St. Florian's Rural Park — Attraction in Polcenigo

The invigorating hike up the woods-laden trail is for the exuberant (and not for those better off staying home and spending all weekend in front of the TV). What’s too be seen at the top of the hill when you enter the park? Maybe some goats on the rocks looking down at you or colorful peacocks that roam free among the park visitors, and most likely laughing children. A few steps after you’ve peaked the hill is the open air bar, where you are invited with reggae music playing from the sound system. There you can order beer and prosecco and wine to drink, and there’s amazing foods offered there too. The park’s playground equipment includes rustic style slides and swings. Anyone who doesn’t marvel at all the options to play on, must have stopped, turned around, and just went home. (Their loss.) Beyond the playground is an easy hiking trail, meant to be traversed with or without shoes on; and there are more animals and orchards of olive trees to be seen along the hike. Aggiornamento: eh, sì! Ci siamo tornati anche in primavera! Ed è stato fantastico proprio come ce lo aspettavamo! È a disposizione un percorso tattile da fare a piedi nudi tra erba, ghiaia, fango, legno s acqua... un'esperienza sensoriale per grandi e piccoli che lascia veramente un ottimo ricordo di ritorno alle origini e si apre verso sensazioni dimenticate! Senza volere ci siamo trovati lì nel giorno del CIUCO-RADUNO e la visione di tutti quegli animali e le attività organizzate sono state emozionanti. In generale comunque sono sempre visibili gli animali del parco (anche d'inverno) tra cavalli, maiali, galline di tante specie e Gigi il pavone che si aggira libero per il parco! Confermo la mia decisione di ritornarci il prima possibile! Ci sono stanze/camerate attrezzate per poter fare b&b e l'ospitalità è eccezionale! Ottimi anche i prodotti preparati dal parco: giardiniera, salame e tanti altri tra cui un ottimo succo di mela!

After a long, hot, dusty walk up a 200 meter long steep hill, all we found was a restaurant blaring heavy metal music and two chicken pens that reeked of ammonia, plus a couple pieces of playground equipment. There may have been more animals if we wanted to walk another 300 or 400 m. No thanks....
