Sebbene la gran parte della località sia nel comune di Rio nell'Elba, di cui costituisce uno dei principali centri turistici, è più facile raggiungerla da Portoferraio. E' la spiaggia più ampia e attrezzata di questo tratto di costa. Ghiaiosa, abbastanza protetta da un golfo (esposta solo ai venti settentrionali) il cui limite è la punta Falconaia, è molto frequentata e offre tutti i servizi. Accesso alla spiaggia: La via principale è la provinciale che giunge da Portoferraio, ma si può raggiungere anche da Rio nell'Elba, tramite la strada panoramica della Falconaia. La località è unita a Portoferraio anche da un servizio di bus urbani.
