Osteria di Mare "Il Faro" — Restaurant in Portoferraio

The food was absolutely delicious — I can honestly say it was the best fish and spaghetti allo scoglio we had during our entire stay on Elba. The atmosphere was just as wonderful, with a breathtaking sunset right by the sea creating the perfect backdrop for dinner.

We were also really happy to see that they had a dedicated kids’ menu, which included things like chicken nuggets and fries — such a thoughtful touch, especially since kids don’t always go for seafood. It made the whole experience even more comfortable for us as a family.

The service was excellent — everyone was very attentive, and Alice in particular was incredibly kind and caring, especially with our children.

Eccelente! From the ambience to the staff to the food, everything was perfection. At our first dinner there the chef came out and spoke to us at length. We asked him if he was able to procure turbot and for our next dinner he prepared the most delicious turbot baked with porcini mushrooms and potatoes. For our starter, the chef made scrumptious scampi sautéed with garlic and olive oil, and calamari with chorizo. The selection of local wines was on point and dessert was a decadent tiramisu - the best we have had in Italy! So often we go to restaurants with a 5-star rating and they are average, at best. For some unknown reason this restaurant receives unfavorable reviews but it you decide to heed them, you will be missing a great...

Likely a great space but inconsistent/ lazy stafffirst time we stopped was great.staff was great and produced an excellent negroni with a local twist.

We went back a few days later around the same time and the server very dismissively said he couldn't make complicated cocktails ( surely a Negroni isn't a complicated cocktail!) and that we would have to wait 30 minutes until another member came in. It is less so the fact that he was very unapologetic about it and had spent 15 minutes chatting with his mother in -law ( they had all been athe each together for some time before he started work) before even addressing us.
