Great to see Roman city life so easily, you walk and walk, climb stairs and see everything for yourselves. It was a city of around 50.000 people and around 17.000 of them were slaves. You can easily recognise the communal baths and toilets to theatre and merchant places. Should be at your 10 great things to do around Rome list. Also great for kids because you can see everything for yourself, our kids loved it. Kids have free entrance and the fee for adults was only €8 in 2016. You can easily spend 4 hours here, so take something to drink and food with you. But there is also a nice place to eat something.

ERA UN PIAZZALE ESSENZIALMENTE ADIBITO AL MERCATO DOVE SI VENDEVANO MERCI DI OGNI TIPO PROVENIENTI DALLE NAVI CHE ATTRACCAVANO LI VICINO ! ANCHE E SOPRATTUTTO SU QUESTE COSE CI FANNO CAPIRE QUANTO I ROMANI STAVANO AVANTI ANNI LUCE RISPETTO ALLE ALTRE POPOLAZIONI

Gleich hinter dem Theater befindet sich der große Platz der Korporationen, in der Zeit Kaiser Augustus angelegt. In der überdachten Säulenhalle fanden die Besucher in den Pausen des Theaters Schutz vor Regen. Im dritten Jahrhundert entstanden Büros der Kooperationen (collegia) entlang eines Korridors, hier fanden die wichtigsten öffentlichen und privaten Transaktionen stad. Der beste Blick auf das Arsenal ergibt sich von den Arkaden des Theaters.

Il piazzale delle corporazioni è un sito ampissimo posto in prossimità del teatro romano e rappresenta il luogo degli scambi commerciali e delle intese tra gruppi di interesse economico. Il sito, caratterizzato dalla presenza di colonne che ne circoscrivono l'ambiente, è ben conservato, anche con riferimento alla splendida pavimentazione decorata a mosaico.

I pavimenti delle strutture sono mosaicati con tessere bianche e nere, come già si notava più addietro nei pressi di porta romana, e qui riportano illustrazioni delle navi commerciali provenienti da varie zone del Mediterraneo con diversi tipi di merci. La provenienza delle navi è indicata da iscrizioni in ottimo stato così come il resto del mosaico.

La plaza de las Corporaciones data de época de Augusto y estaba ligada a las actividades del teatro. Entre el siglo II y III se convierte en el centro de la actividad económica y comercial de la ciudad. Se construyeron una serie de stationes, las oficinas de las corporaciones, collegia, de negociantes, artesanos y comerciantes de Ostia.
