Monumento ai caduti d'Africa — Attraction in Syracuse

This monument is disgraceful. I understand that people want to remember fallen soldiers. Some or many of them probably might only have fought because of they were told so.

Still, this monument was build in a fashist time for a fashist purpose. Hence, this monument should have never put up at all but destroyed. If Italy wanted to remember these fallen soldiers the should have designed a new one with the historical background of the evil of colonization.

If the time for this was not there yet, when it was setup here than it is time now.

The monument is very pretty with a breathtaking view of Syracuse. It has a couple benches placed around it and a food truck nearby offering a range of beverages and street food. Its location is quite far away from the island of Ortigia and I found the walk here took a long time.
