We came here for lunch several days while staying at Villa Politi. They offer a good range of salads, sandwiches, cakes and ice cream. Prices were pretty average compared to other places we ate and certainly much better value than the hotel. Most of the waiters had a little English, which was really helpful if we had a question but had run out of Italian vocabulary! We were happy with the experience and speed of service at lunchtimes. We did come once for dinner, but found the service a bit slow and the staff overwhelmed. At dinner, we had steak served with courgette (fine) and tuna with guacamole (tuna was nice, guac was just an underripe avocado put through a blender- didn’t eat it). They also serve pizza in the evening which looked and smelled nice. It’s a popular local place, open all day til late. You can pre-book or just turn up. I finally found the worst coffee in Italy. I wish it stopped there but unfortunately it didn’t. The waitress was disappointed that we only stopped in for coffee. The lady at the register was checking out her socials so she was too busy to answer my question. The waiter who brought over the coffee was polite. It was served with chocolate on top ( nice touch) but unfortunately I’m celiac. I did ask politely if it was gluten free and to his credit he checked and said it was. In a few words: avoid it. Unfortunately, it is another tourist trap in town. Prices are over-inflated. They charge for first-class service and you get paper napkins and cheap, worn cutleries. Service is poor as well, mainly due to bad management (and possibly underpaid staff). The waiters received no formal training and the majority of them know the menu superficially. Although the location may seem nice because of the view, everything else is not. The food quality is below average and traditional Sicilian standards. Prices are excessive.
