Mind the Gap Bar — Restaurant in Syracuse

Nice random place with some seats outside plus a few seats indoors in the cool!

Doesn't seem to be anything around this area, but was on the way back from the archeological area, so we popped in.

Seems to be a mix between a newsagents/shop, a cafe/bar and a gift shop. Had to grab a few bottles of Moretti from the fridge, which the cafe guy opened for us, then I paid at the till before grabbing a seat indoors... Managed to get a beer though so we were happy!.

Lots of big bags of sweets at the till with sweets like minstrels, pop tarts and revels to eat on the way back to the apartment. Mrs tried to buy a bag but I assume they don't get bought often, as the staff struggled to find the cost of the minstrels. Ended up charging €2.90 for a bag of minstrels and €2.90 for some Oreos.

Lots of local people coming in to buy lottery / scratch cards, with a few getting an espresso to drink outside, whilst we sat and drank a beer.

Bit of a mix in the merch shop, with candles, ceramics, lava lamps and Harry potter posters ...

The staff seemed friendly, particularly the guy in the cafe so I assume the lady that everyone else mentions wasn't working. They didn't speak English though, so we were lucky the patrons of the shop were there to help...

Il locale meriterebbe 5 stelle, peccato che il personale sia in grado di rovinarlo totalmente. Uno più sgarbato dell'altro, non sono assolutamente in grado di gestire il flusso dei clienti, non salutano né quando arriva il cliente né quando và via, ti tirano il resto sul bancone come se avessi pagato con i soldi del Monopoli. Peccato, suggerirei al/ai proprietario/i di mettere dietro al bancone gente più garbata. Io andavo spesso per le più svariate necessità (tabacchi, pagamento bollettini, ricariche telefoniche, dolcini per i bimbi), ormai, nonostante passi di lì 4 volte al dì, preferisco andare dove trovo più educazione e gentilezza, dato che porto dei soldi e quindi un guadagno...

Ottimo luogo dove trascorrere un'ora in totale relax. Si colloca in un posto ben collegato e con tutti i vari servizi; l'interno, in stile londinese, è ciò che lo rende unico nella realtà Siracusana. La colazione così come la gelateria e la rosticceria è artigianale. I servizi igienici sono ben puliti, l'ambiente è sorvegliato da numerose telecamere ed offre postazioni dove caricare gli smartphone.
