Lido Tao Beach Club — Attraction in Taormina

Beach club = 3 stars. Restaurant = 1 stars

Beach club. The host was amazing and was the friendliest service of our trip to date. The club is quite and out of the way of young families which is nice. The music is good and the table service is good. Good quality beach chairs and showers and bathrooms are just as good! The let down was that the Beach isn't as swimable as the other beaches in the area. The bigger let down was at 5pm and there was staff hanging around us and packing up and cleaning up right next to us when it isn't suppose to close until 7pm. It was very uncomfortable and it felt like we weren't welcome.

Restaurant. My partner and I shared the Octopus salad which was actually the best Octopus salad of my trip. We also ate the seafood pasta which was okay. We then shared the Veal with French fries. The veal must be frozen or something as it came out raw. We politly asked the staff if this was okay and they said they will resolve it. 15 minutes later the veal dish came back out but had less veal and they reused the French fries which were cold and mushy so we didn't eat it. We asked for the bill and the staff said they will remove the veal from the bill. 15 minutes later they brought the efpos machine to the table and I said thanks for understanding. The staff member then rolled his eyes at me. If that didn’t happen i would of given it 4 stars and not mentioned the raw food as it was a good experience apart from that as the host was great. I went to this place with a group of 5 people. We booked 5 sun beds for €45 per sunbed. We were told these sunbeds included umbrellas. A must for us, as it tends to get very hot here in summer. Upon arrival we were greeted by 5 sunbeds and 2 umbrellas. One of the beds was completely in the sun so we asked for an additional umbrella. Minor issue you would think. However this was absolutely not possible as everything needed to stay in place because it needed to “look like” a luxurious beach club. This perfectly describes this place. It is an overpriced, “look like ” fancy beach club. The service is appalling. We ended up in a 5 minute argument about potentially getting an additional umbrella which was strictly forbidden. Half the place was empty and there was a large amount of umbrellas available. I never like to get managers involved but in this case we did and he resolved the issue calmly. Credits to him for this. To the manager (Marko) : please check if your staff really have the hospitality capabilities that allow them to work in a “high-end” beach club. When I say staff I specifically mean the aggressive employee working as life guard. I have been to many around the world, and this is by far one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve had. We booked sunbeds at Tao Beach Club a bit blindly, not really knowing what to expect — and we ended up having the most wonderful day. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. We were welcomed with a delicious welcome drink, and the service throughout the day was truly exceptional.

A special thank you to Simone, who took such great care of us — warm, attentive, yet respectfully discreet. Just the right balance, and absolutely spot on. Everyone else was so nice as well. Nothing was too much to ask: everyone was eager to help with a great attitude and kindness all the way! They even arranged a car to take us back to center of Taormina.

Lunch completely exceeded our expectations: while the portions were small, they were packed with flavor and beautifully presented. So far the pasta (tomato tortellini) has been best we have had in Taormina, which is surprising! They also make an amazing tiramisu! They also make good ice capuccinos with milk or oat milk.

We enjoyed ourselves so much that we even considered coming back for another day, despite the experience being on the pricier side. It just felt so comfortable, relaxing, and easy to enjoy.
