We love it!
It’s our second time in Taormina and we’ve been twice at the Hotel Villino Gallodoro.
We’ve booked the room with private balcony with view to the bay. Spacious room, aircon, big bed.
We’ve had breakfast on our balcony almost every morning and a few dinners too as the villino has its own restaurant! Exceptionally comfortable to have it right outside of your bedroom.
It can be a bit loud in the evening if unit room faces the restaurant but we didn’t mind.
Staff is lovely and accommodating.
They have tiny parking space on site for roughly 7 cars and a number of motorbikes which is great! They charge around £10/£15 per day.
Food at the restaurant is nice and priced like everywhere in Taormina, around £15 for mains. Usually you can spend £50 in two.
It’s 5 min walk from the cable car to Taormina (£6 per person with return or £10 for a daily ticket), minutes away from the Lido La Pigna e...
Read moreWe were looking for a local restaurant for dinner and stumbled across this place. We didn't get a chance to look at the reviews before going here. The servers were nice but didn't check on us enough. They were gone a lot. The food was expensive and didn't taste good. The pasta carbonara was terrible, you can tell the cheese wasn't mixed well either because it separated. The bruschetta had no flavor. Alcoholic beverages were good. The spaghetti with clams was ok but we've had way better in other towns before. The only 2 things we liked about this place was the view on the terrace and the gelato. If you want authentic Sicilian food we would not recommend coming here. My fiance is Sicilian and he even thought the food was bad too. We had an older lady join us after we finished our dinner, She ate pizza and she said it was ok and she's had better. So sad because this town is...
Read moreThe food was very mediocre but what made the experience terrible was the service. We ordered a few pizzas for take-away, and then asked one of the waiters if it was ok to stay and eat at the restaurant instead. He said no problem, and then we started to put 2 tables together, and were immediatley shouted at by another waiter. We tried to explain to him that we are staying to eat, but he didn't listen. Afterwards when receiving the pizzas, we asked the waiter if it is possible to cut them, and he told us to use our knives. Lastly, when we wanted to pack the few slices remaining, he gave us a box and told us to pack the pizzas ourselves. Needless to say we felt frowned upon the entire time we were there, and every time we asked for something the staff were annoyed and rude. Do yourselves a favour and keep away...
