The cathedral of San Lorenzo is a pretty baroque cathedral in the center of the old city. As with many churches in this town, and in Italy, the church façade and gates are lining up flush with the residential buildings to the left and right. I visited the church on a public (Feragosto) and religious holiday (Assumption of Mary), and a long procession was coming to an end inside the Cathedral. A very moving display of Italian Catholic religiosity.

Cette magnifique cathédrale a vu le jour en 1421, sous l'initiative de d'Alphonse V d'Aragon ! Au cours de l'histoire elle a du subir plusieurs transformations ! Le style actuel néo- classique date du XVIII ème siècle. Et dès le XIX ème siècle beaucoup d'artistes de la région on pu créer de très belles réalisations en stuc et en peinture également ! La "Cattedrale di San Lorenzo Martire" est dédié à Laurent de Rome. Elle est le centre spirituel le plus important de la ville ! On y ressent une grande ambiance de Paix, de sérénité : Mais aussi toute la mémoire des prières déposées par tous les fidèles depuis si nombreux siècles ! On ne peut être que transporté de Joie et de Reconnaissance par ce lieu impressionnant !...

There are many cathedrals in this city and they are filled with history and gorgeous. This one is is not exceptional. Be sure to take a look at the ceiling, as well as the organ. Also, check out the arches throughout the entire cathedral.

Beautiful old church near the Port of Trapani, an easy walk. Getting it all in a picture is tough with the streets. Lots of highly decorated roof panels & detailed marble components with the eight pointed stars. Very interesting.

Edificata nel '400, acquisisce l'aspetto attuale in stile barocco e neoclassico esattamente nella seconda metà del '700. Interessante solamente la facciata, che si presenta con un bel pronao a tre campate al di sopra del quale si ha un frontale sinuoso fiancheggiato da due torri, una delle quali si sviluppa superiormente a campanile. Peccato che il poco spazio antistante non consenta di poterla ammirare con un po' più di distanza. Internamente, invece, nonostante sia la cattedrale di Trapani, non possiede caratteristiche od opere entusiasmanti o comunque particolarmente interessanti.

Arrived but cathedral closed. No sign to say when open. Website does not say closed … travelled 2 hours to visit .. verity disappointed with lack of information and respect for visitors
