Title: Very Disappointing Experience at Hotel Augustus
We have been visiting the beach restaurant Hotel Augustus in Forte dei Marmi for years, and our experiences have always been positive. This year, we decided to have lunch at there again and made a reservation for eight people, including several children. In the past, swimming in the pool during lunch was never an issue, but this year, that suddenly changed.
Upon arrival, we were informed that the children were not allowed to swim in the pool due to a new policy. Despite explaining that this had never been a problem in previous years, the beach manager refused to make an exception. We stressed that we had specifically counted on using the pool and that it was an important part of our lunch experience.
The manager remained inflexible and insisted that our children could only access the pool if we rented beach beds. We explained that we had a flight to catch after lunch and that renting beach beds was not practical for us. Despite this, they refused to accommodate us. The rest of the staff seemed to have no problem with our children swimming, which made the situation even more frustrating.
This was a very unpleasant and disappointing experience. The manager's rigid attitude and lack of understanding for our situation completely ruined our lunch at Hotel Augustus. We will definitely think twice before making a reservation here again...
Read moreI was a bit concerned heading into the day given there were a few bad reviews on google reviews and trip advisor, honestly, no idea what those bad reviews were talking about. Place and experience was A+, vibes were on point and exactly what you want in a beach club, staff was professional and accommodated any requests we asked of them (granted we weren’t asking anything crazy, just saying they were easy to work with and provided high quality service).
Yes, it’s expensive, but that shouldn’t be a surprise to any patron who chooses to visit. You get what you pay for. Gazebos were standard setup, queen bed, couple chairs and couple sun beds. My group and I spent about 5.5 hours there, very fun experience. Cooling off in the water with the mountains in background was pretty surreal. Also, restaurant was great, favorite meal in forte dei marmi. The sommelier on hand helped us pick out some wines. Drinking with friends, having great food while overlooking the water, doesn’t get much better.
If you want a drink quickly, walk up to the bar and take it back with you, waiting for staff to bring it to you is prob...
Read moreWe originally booked this beach club last year but had to cancel due to illness. Despite their no-refund, no-reschedule policy, they offered us a voucher for this year — fair enough. But now that we’ve made it all the way here, it’s pouring rain with storms, and they’re refusing to offer any alternative or acknowledge that the beach is completely unusable.
Everything was soaked — the beds, the towels, even the supposedly covered areas. The roof let the water through, and there was absolutely no dry space where we could have stayed. No solution was offered, not even the bare minimum to allow guests to stay during the rain.
Let that sink in: a beach club that won’t adjust for weather, even when the entire setup is soaked and unusable. No flexibility, no empathy, no solution. Just a smug “too bad” attitude from the staff.
This is not hospitality — it’s arrogance. Spend your...
