Tatsumaki Jigoku is perhaps the smallest of the Seven Hells of Beppu, however it stands out with it's geyser which regularly erupts every 30-40 minutes. There are benches and stone steps set out for people to sit and watch the eruption. There is also a sign next to the geyser explaining when it erupts and more information about it. Tatsumaki Jigoku also has a gift shop, and outside the premises is a toilet block.

Thanks for the experience Tatsumaki Jigoku!

Kamado was a bit overrun with tourists when we were there and the property is not the nicest. Shiraike and Oniyama should be avoided at all costs! They keep crocodiles, turtles and fish in tiny cages without any plants, it’s sheer...
