Route Inn Kawaguchiko — Attraction in Fujikawaguchiko

I arrived at Kawaguchiko Station in the afternoon and decided to leave my luggage at a locker near the station before visiting Oshino Hakkai. I returned to the station around 5 PM to retrieve my luggage and called the hotel to inquire about their FREE Shuttle Bus service. Luckily, I caught the shuttle bus back to the hotel in time. The driver was very polite and helpful, assisting me with my luggage both ways.The hotel had a nice and standard atmosphere, both inside and out. The staff at the lobby were friendly and spoke excellent English. They were able to provide me with all the information needed.My room was a 20 square meter Lake View Room with a stunning view of Mount Fuji. It had two single beds, a desk and chairs The entrance had a large mirror and the storage space. Unfortunately, the remaining space in the room was too small to fully open my 28-inch suitcase. Luckily, I was alone, so I used the second bed to store my belongings. The bathroom was small but well-equipped with a shower, bathtub, and an automatic toilet.The onsen was located on the 6th floor and was divided into male and female sections. It was clean and spacious. However, around 8-10 PM, it got quite crowded. If you're not accustomed to this culture, you might want to visit during the morning. (Operated Time : 3PM-2AM & 5-10 AM)The hotel restaurant offered a variety of dishes. I checked the menu and decided to purchase a dinner coupon at the lobby. The dinner buffet was served from 6-9 PM. Breakfast (7-9AM) was included in my package and was slightly different from dinner. Overall, the food was decent but not exceptional. When reviewing hotels it is essential to take price and location into consideration. There are numerous hotels in Tokyo CBD catering for every taste and price range but significantly fewer in Kawaguchiko. Supply and demand also makes the former a more competitive hotel location. ||Having said all that, last night we stayed in a shoebox room in the Shinjuku Washington Hotel and our current room today in the Route Inn in Kawaguchiko is significantly better. ||The modular bathrooms are virtually identical, bath cum shower and the obligatory heated toilet, in a very small but functional space. The room, however, is appreciably larger with two double beds and a couple of chairs and a small table. The main negative is the lack of any facilities for your luggage. We ended up using one of the beds as the luggage rack and slept in the second bed., not ideal but reasonably comfortable. There is a hanging facility for your clothes in the small corridor but it is hardly worth the effort of unpacking if you are only staying for one night. Most rooms have a scenic window view of Lake Kawaguchiko and possibly Mount Fuji if the cloud Gods favour you. ||The hotel is an Olsen (hot spring water bath) hotel so there is a male and female bath on the 6th floor overlooking the lake. A recommended and pleasurable experience.||The hotel provides a buffet dinner in a canteen style restaurant, so no atmosphere. There was a wide range of food choices but all cold, and probably best missed, in retrospect.
