I stumbled across this on the way back from the Cape. I saw the sign for something else, took the road up, and then saw a staircase, that led to a trail that led me all the way up to a clearing that then led to this site.

Definitely worth the walk up! Offers great views of the ocean and the city and was nowhere near as crowded as the Observation deck, which was not crowded at all, and that you can see from this spot.

Really cool to explore the site.

Wear boots if you go up during the winter or begin of spring as there will still be snow...

Hiking from Tachimachi Cape through Nanamagari Trail (i). The Nanamagari path is narrow almost all the way and very steep at some points. Also, not much for the view if you chose this trail (i). But I guess it is the shortest way to hike from Tachimachi and pass the Senjojiki Old Gun to the Mt. Hakodate Observatory.

If you don't mind a rough hiking or you are into it, these trails are definitely worth your time.

But be concerned if you're not...

I nice walk up from the cape. The trail is well maintained, and you can be surrounded by beautiful foliage. Before the battery, there is a space like a park with a bathroom and shade.
