This museum is a jewel in the island a Must to visit. It looks like a simple beautiful classic japanese house from the outside, on the inside it begins like a modest place showing some history and instruments used on the island. Then it has a second floor with more history like a normal museum but what bring this place on top of most places is that it provides you the chance to go inside the house and seat in the living room, try to do some Japanese Origami, heard the little fountain on the garden of the house and feel what could have been living in a place like that on the old days, absolutely gorgeous. I highly recommend to...

Wonderful museum with preservation of Miyajima history and the impact of the island on Japan and overseas, many artifacts and art to see too. English and Japanese descriptions available. The first floor of the museum was the home of a wealthy merchant, fun to walk around and view the garden while enjoying the architecture.

Also if you are a stamp collector, there is a stamp by the admission booth. There is space on the back of your ticket for the...

A great place to learn about the Itsukushima shrine: it provides many more explanations than at the shrine itself. It has lots of interesting pieces to show, about the shrine, its history and the customs of the local people. It is located in a former merchant house with a very nice garden. It is cheap for all it offers and there was virtually nobody there whereas the shrine was...

I went there during consecutive holidays, but there weren't any guests, so I was able to enjoy the tour calmly." The courtyard is very beautiful and elegant. We can feed carp free of charge. There are only a limited view of wheelchair users, but I think they can fully enjoy it. The exhibition description was unique and humorous and interesting.
