Let’s go for the jewel of the crown. Was this my favorite part of Itsukushima? No it was not (see my other posts it was Daishoin Temple), but it was my second one. You will see the Tori from everywhere. From the ferry, from the beginning of the Island. When you walk to see it. The interesting thing of what you will see and do and what surprises you will face. Let’s start: At the moment you enter the island you will see deers, yes Bambis you Disney lover… and not this os not Nara, but if you missed Nara as I did, this is you second and last chance (probably) If you walk to the Tori and go to the left side you will see the entrance to the beach, depending on water level you may be able to go closer. But here is a little trick, the moon is your enemy here, so wait until the attraction force from the moon weakens, at 10 am there was so much water, at 1 pm there was not 🎉🥳. Be prepare to face tourists, yes I hate my own kind. I am a tourist that believes I am different from the rest, when probably not 😖. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This point is about that Hiroshima does not have A LOT of tourist, but those few tourist are in this island (80% of them), and I do not know why but it looks like kids in Japan never go to class because I see them everywhere I go, not matter the day not matter the time, they are everywhere and with their uniforms (all my life I heard that the education in Japan was very difficult and stressful, well if so I was tortured because I almost never did amazing trips like...

It’s more than just a sight of breathtaking beauty – it’s a moment that stirs the soul, whispering: “Pause. Breathe. Be here.”
The floating Itsukushima Torii, part of a sacred Shinto shrine, stands both majestic and gentle. During high tide, when the sea surrounds its base, its reflection creates a mirror image so perfect it feels as though heaven and earth meet right there.
This is a place made for quiet reflection, for slow walks, for sharing silence with someone close. It’s romantic not in grand gestures, but in its atmosphere – in the unspoken connection, in the stillness that says more than...
Read moreThe Itsukushima Shrine Otorii Gate is an iconic tourist spot just outside of Hiroshima in Japan. I took the train and then the ferry across to Miyajima Island. The deer roam freely on the island. I was looking forward to dinner on a Sunday night but all the shops and restaurants closed at 6pm so I ended up getting a bag full of food from the local konbini and sat in a perfect spot on the shore to watch the sunset over the Tori gate. The vermillion red colour is striking against the water. Some cruise boats got right up close to the gate as it was high tide and one tourist even swam out to touch it. Very relaxing and not many crowds on a Sunday...
