The property is next to a beautiful river. We were greeted before we even entered the property! Shown a tour of the facility and also our room. We chose a room with a private onsen and an amazing view of "downtown" with a gorgeous temple in the foreground. DINNER: To DIE for! 🤤😵 8 courses, all small (thank God), but supremely filling, even about half way through: adventurous or familiar with Japanese cuisine eaters only! Rather than a few items with many bites, they offer many items with few bites. Opinion trigger warning! 😝 Personally, I find that the first few bites of any dish are amazing and I quickly acclimate to the flavor and while it remains great, it loses some "wow" factor. Here, this never happens as there is very little of each item to sample. In short, you are stuck in "wow" mode for the almost 2 hours it takes to eat dinner! I know I've said "little" and "small" a lot, but rest assured you will not leave hungry! BREAKFAST: In true form, lots of small bites including pickles, house made miso heated over charcoal, and a small dried fish also grilled. All delicious! A wonderful start to the day.

Style. 160 years old vintage hotel founded end of Edo period and a nationally registered tangible cultural property Setting. Peaceful riverside ryokan Explore. beautiful Hida-Furukawa with a quiet energy Rooms. 18 rooms I was in room 202, a Japanese style retro room with a direct view of Honkoji temple. While I appreciate the retro charm of the hotel, the bathroom looked like it is from the 60s. @ the hotel. Excellent service throughout. Hotel gives you a great sense of place and looks a bit like a Showa museum. Two onsen areas, one with an outdoor/indoor onsen, 2nd onsen area is indoors only. Food & drinks. Delicious meals especially dinner kaiseki by a Japanese garden, I ate everything, even the famous Hida beef (and I normally don’t touch beef). The Tiger puffer fish and river fish were two other memorable dishes. Prices. USD465 Rating. 4/5

A beautiful ryokan in an amazing place. This was a really special stay on our Japan trip. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. The ryokan has beautiful rooms and views. Our room looked over the temple and river and we had a gorgeous private onsen which was heaven. The ryokan also has a selection of public onsen which guests can use. Before 7pm they offer free sake which is a lovely treat. The traditional Japanese meals of multiple courses served in private dining rooms are out of this world. Both nights we were treated to incredible food. I could not recommend this ryokan more it was such a wonderful Japanese experience of amazing hospitality.

Hida is a beautiful town. Came here for a 4-night ryokan stay at Yatsusankan and join the Hida Furukawa Matsuri festival. The whole experience in Yatsusankan is wonderful and memorable from the time we arrived until the end of our stay. Rooms are spacious, clean and beautiful. Facilities including Onsen bath are very good. Our meals were delicious, special thanks to their chief chef Naoki Akita. All the staff were warm hearted, sincere and doing their best to make us feel comfortable and happy. I definite recommend to anyone who wishes to experience a ryokan stay. Definitely coming back to Yatsusankan and lovely Hida.

I stayed at Yatsusan-kan for two nights with my fianceé on our honeymoon trip, and we had an incredible experience. The staff and service at Yatsusankan were top-notch, attentive, welcoming; the onsen experience was amazing (especially the outdoor baths); and the breakfast course + "kaiseki" style fine dining dinner were some of the best dishes I've tasted in my life. This really made a wonderful end to our trip, and I highly recommend Yatsusan-kan to all.

We stayed one night in this historical building. Staffs are friendly and English speaking, they tried their best to introduce the hotel and gave us a hotel tour. Traditional Japanese tea and snack is served before checking in. Our room is in tradition style, spotless and cozy. Breakfast is delicate traditional, although it is very suit my taste. We had a very enjoyable night, thank you.
