Kawagoe City Art Museum — Attraction in Kawagoe

資料や史料について展示物は川越の地場産業、都市基盤、名士を中心に収集されています。お祭り資料については川越まつり会館のほうが収集されてますがこちらにもあります。資料室は松平氏をはじめとして川越の主要な人物のキュレーションと一般的な歴史や地理に関連する図書資料が中心でした。刀剣資料に関しては御手杵に殊更近年の刀剣ブームで着眼してしまいがちでしたが他の資料もきちんと見ればよいものがあるはずですｗ説明や蔵書の記述言語は日本語のみと思ったほうがよいです。年間パスポートのようなものは訪問時点でなしとのことは確認済み。

Collections: Historical properties (and replicas) of industries (agriculture of tea, sweet potatoes, silk, etc) and Infrastructures (streets, architectures, hydration, etc), and heroes at Kawagoe in mianly Edo era. (there has several exhibitions about major festival at central of Kawagoe but you'd better access to Kawagoe matsuri kaikan in addition.)

Library collections: History of local heroes or executives like clans of Matsudaira, general textbooks about Japanese history and geography, and so on, most of all explanations and books are written only in Japanese (Sorry that I did not check language support). I got interested in Japanese swords and the boom of them so I checked references of Otegine spear mainly at this time. Of course, there must be other interesting documents!

No annual passport would be serviced at that time.

車椅子移動は展示室についてはとてもしやすそうな印象を受けましたが実際のユーザではないので意見を保留しておきます。資料室内はおそらく机や椅子の移動をしなければ快適な移動は実現できないと思います。

Smooth moves with wheelchair would be got at exhibition rooms but it can be a bit difficult to enter to the library and move at inside of it without removing some desks and chairs, I felt. (notice that I'm not a user of wheelchair so I do not want to make conclusion)

尚、特別展「平成２９年新作名刀展－現代の刀工と刀職－」で24Sep2017に訪問しました。

Lot of knowledge can be gathered from this beautiful museum. All the staffs are helpful, friendly and cooperative. There is a nearby bus stop just few step walking distance. Also a big parking lot is also there and its free of charge until 5 pm. Its really very beautiful place. From here one may visit the Kawagoe castle ruins which is again only few steps...

川越市立博物館の間隣に立つ市立美術館ですが、美術・芸術に造詣の無い私でも気軽に入れる雰囲気は良い点だと思います（^^）。

展示内容を紹介しますと・・・。

まずは、川越で生まれ育った洋画家である、相原求一朗氏（故人）の常設展示室。当美術館所蔵のコレクションより、定期的に展示内容を更新しているそうです。作品に関しては、山々などの自然を遠景で描いている作品が多数ありました。山肌の表現や、おちついたトーンの色遣いが印象に残りました。相原氏の他、郷土にゆかりのある作家さんのコレクションも常時展示している様子でした。

次いで、タッチアートコーナーと称するエリアでは、来館時では長岡造形大学の美術・工芸学科准教授である小林花子さんの作品展が開催中でした。実際に手に触れることの出来る、触感と温度をも含めた美術鑑賞体験となりました。

最後に訪れたのは企画展示室。東京生まれの彫刻家、金沢健一氏のマリオネット展が開催中でした。スペースを充分に取っての、小さなマリオネットたちのポーズや佇まいは、シュールに思えました。鉄琴（？）の上を踊り続けるマリオネット。足先が鉄琴に触れることで奏でられる音色はゆらぎもあって、ずっと見て（聞いて）いたくなる佇まいでした。

以上長文になりました。たまには、自分には縁遠い（と思っている）美術の世界を覗いてみる...
