This would be a good place to visit when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom.
It's a nice place to spend a few hours just relaxing and taking in nature and the fresh air.
In less chilly weather, it would be worth the hike down and to stop at the waterfalls.
I took away a star as it wasnt all tourist friendly, and the items at the shop were a little pricey.
We tried the beef sandwich and some desserts at The Vendah. The sandwich was priced at 1850 yen for 4 small pieces. The beef was savoury and juicy, but the bread was very basic. The desserts, well, I've had better even at the supermarkets. I guess we're paying for the view and rhe obligatory mark up for it being a tourist destination.
The recreational area before the middle station was a nice touch and we took a short rest on the hammocks. The view was beautiful.

Read moreThis place is awesome!! It was a beautiful view despite the cloudy weather the day we went. Do not miss a fun ride on the ropeway for a fee of about $15USD roundtrip. Well worth it for the spectacular views of the city of Kobe, a waterfall & the gorgeous garden grounds below. You can also choose a one way trip on the ropeway & then hike your way back down. The upper part of the gardens have a resting area, souvenir shopping & a couple of places to eat & drink. The soft serve ice cream was delish! The bottom of the ropeway is within walking distance of the Shin-Kobe station otherwise it is also a stop on the Kobe City Bus Loop (hop on hop off bus) which I would also highly recommend when visiting Kobe. It was definitely one of our favorite stops during our day trip to Kobe...
Read moreWow, what an experience in Kobe. Take the ropeway up and enjoy a leisurely stroll down. If you're a fan of taking macro photos be prepared to take many. The gardens a beautiful and if you come on a warm and sunny day there are hammocks for you to enjoy to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the views. The view looking down on Kobe is amazing, so you'll find yourself taking many photos. We also stumbled across a wild boar/pig that was pretty big but by the time I got my phone out it moved away. I highly recommend this place to anyone who has half a day to explore. The herb garden is an extremely beautiful place. Don't rush the visit...
