MIC is great. They're so helpful for foreign persons living in Matsuyama. Worst case scenario for a foreign person is an emergency room visit in Matsuyama. For some weird reason they move emergency services locations around every day. Almost none of these facilities have an English speaker. When you're moved from one hospital to another, from one doctor to another, most of whom as to be expected, barely understand you or don't understand at all. The worst part of that is there's almost no paper/E trail of what happened and there's a good chance that they didn't understand what you told them happened and perhaps even related the wrong information to the next doctor. So it's the classic telephone game, but a life threatening one. Totally confusing for someone going through an emergency situation. The multiple hospital thing really causes this to be even worse as they shuffle you from facility to facility. Thank goodness MIC was able to provide translation services! Unfortunately after the fact but even then is better than the whole thing becoming more confused and more jumbled and more misunderstood until very avoidable tragedy happens. They have also been incredibly helpful when dealing with the various bureaucracies and understanding of visas and rights and obligations of residency.
