If you're at Universal Japan and you purchase the express tickets, make sure Hollywood Dream the Ride is on your list..!

Pre-ride: Wow, they were extremely strict with ensuring there were no phones or any type of recording devices taken on this ride. When the coaster pulls up, you walk across the coaster to put your personal belongings in a community locker cage. The gates go down when the coaster takes off and rises when you return. Additionally, before you get on the coaster you are wanded down with a hand held metal detector. Super extra, I love it.

The Ride: You have the option to ride this facing forward or backward. My team and I chose backward and it was awesome! Funny, one of the scariest parts is slowly going up the initial drop. You're looking down and I'm hugging the security bar to my chest with all my strength. lol After you descend the coaster picks up serious speed and you hit some major Gs through the sharp turns and twists that you don't see coming. I loved it!

One of my favorite Super Extra additions to this coaster, you get to pick what song you want blasting through your own personal head rest speakers. It really enhanced the ride experience for me. Shake it off by Taylor swift made it that much better. haha

You need to know that Universal Studios Japan is discriminating against women and their weight. There is no option to leave them feedback directly. I’m only a U.S. size XL and I was made to go into a special room for a “fitness test” before the Hollywood Dream the Ride rollercoaster to sit in a seat that I obviously would fit in, but they said there’s no need for my male fiancé to do the same.

I’ve never been asked to do this before, I have never needed any weight accommodations nor has that even been a question. The kicker is we literally wear the same size pants. I immediately left the park after this encounter, sobbing. I have never been so humiliated in all my life. I will NEVER be back to Universal Studios.

I understand that this is an issue that some people might need, but I was about 100 lbs too light for this requirement. I’m not even close to 200 lbs. The utter misjudgment of weight was so off that I can’t help but take it personal. It wouldn’t have been as much of an issue if they had my fiancé also try sitting in the seat. But they laughed saying he was good, it was just me who needs to pass the “fitness check”.

Please pass along that socially this was completely out of line to do to women that clearly would not have any issue with sitting in a relatively normal rollercoaster seat before you have someone’s eating disorder, relapse, or suicide...
