There are two amazing things about this hotel: 1) It’s a highly convenient location to Universal Studios Japan and Universal Citywalk of course, and 2) The absolutely incredible SPARK room we stayed in. Our relatives stayed in a regular room which was nicely appointed, but small, and overlooked what can only be described as a toxic waste plant by the water. The SPARK room however was on a high floor, had floor to ceiling windows overlooking the USJ park (and the waste plant but whatever), and was easily the best hotel room we stayed at in Japan—exceeding even our 5 star hotel rooms in Tokyo. The room had two brand new washlet bidet toilets (the kind where you press a button to raise and lower the seat so you never have to touch it), two spacious showers and a large massage tub, a beautiful large curved couch, and four comfortable beds. The curtains were automated and the AC was frozen tundra quality. There was a cold fridge, fantastic toiletries, and every day they replenished skin care spa supplies like face masks and skin treatments. What hotel does this? The girls LOVED this. I cannot recommend the SPARK room enough. It was amazing and unexpectedly awesome. In the hallway there are vending machines, a microwave, filtered water dispenser, and ice machine. 10/10 for room and accommodation. ||So why only 4 stars?||The breakfast buffet is microwave meal quality. It’s catered to kids and it is quite simply below average. Probably one of the worst breakfast buffets of any resort we’ve stayed at and easily the worst food we ate in Japan. Oh well!||There is no early entrance to USJ staying at the property. As the front desk explained to me, the advantage is your proximity to USJ, nothing more. Another awesome thing about the SPARK room was that I could monitor the entrance to USJ. The minute I saw critters scurrying towards the gates around 6:30 am, we sounded the alarm to GO GO GO and two of us sprinted to the park entrance to hold our place in line. Getting into the park in the first wave and entering Super Nintendo World immediately is a quintessential step to an awesome day at USJ. But it sure would be nice if official USJ hotel guests had early entrance to the park. Too bad. ||There’s really nothing else on offer at the hotel other than the minions decor. No pool. Not much else. ||So SPARK room accommodation 10/10. One of the best hotel rooms ever, and really inexpensive given its quality. Everything else was...

Read moreWe had a very enjoyable stay at the Hotel Universal Port Vita during our visit to Japan. The location is perfect as it is a few minutes’ walk to Universal-City station as well as Universal Studios Japan theme park and the City Walk. ||Check in was very prompt and staff were pleasant overall for a busier resort property. There was one small blip in that they asked for a reservation number whereas I usually provided my passport with other hotels. Upon experiencing difficulty finding the reservation number, they asked for my passport and found the reservation anyway. As a security measure, you have to scan your key card in the elevator to access the floors.||We stayed there for two nights in a Deluxe Twin Room which was exceptionally spacious and the two beds can combine to form a supersized King bed, which was lovely for a couple like us. The hotel features an amenity self-serve location to take what supplies you need (though I observed it seemed the area was set up then removed during the course of the day). The property appears to be recently new and the rooms were decorated in Minions-style, which we found to be fun and hopefully appealing for kids. ||Room was pristinely clean, modernly appointed and includes a walk-in shower room, large vanity, complimentary bottled water, storage safe, use of slippers and nightwear. The toilet includes a modernized bidet with many settings including heated seat and adjustable functionality. Breakfast area was large and had an assortment of Western and Asian-themed dishes, enough to satisfy the picky adults and even the little ones. For a large property such as this, we felt the Hotel Universal Port Vita had a great system in place to deal with the volume of customers and their children, and would highly recommend the resort for those looking to visit Universal Studios Japan!||Please indicate if you found this review to be helpful as it will allow me to better focus my future...
