Though named as a cafe, this establishment doesn't serve food or drink. While refreshment -friendly to those who would like to bring their own, what the Samurai Cafe actually serves is an hour of engaging, fun, and highly amusing entertainment. The show is well suited for both Japanese and English-speaking patrons, with narration and dialogue that covers both languages equally.
There venue is rather intimate, so each show plays to a handful of people (there were 7 total audience members in the show I attended) and there are several parts of the show where the actors will request audience participation. Although I personally dislike performing in front of groups of people, the staff did their best to make each person they called up comfortable in their role, making it fun instead of onerous.
To top it off, the staff were very friendly and curious of my friend and I, chatting away with us about our trip and itinerary in Japan while waiting on a group picture to be ready that had been taken at the end of the show. One of their staff members even took me aside and suggested a swift path back to the JR line that took us out of the rain, through a nearby arcade shopping area, which we both appreciated.

Read moreIf you're looking for dinner and a show but think dinner is overrated (because they don't serve food), Samurai Café delivers an action-packed hour of pure entertainment for the soul! This wasn't just a performance—it was a full-blown life experience.
From the moment we walked in, the energy was electric. The audience wasn't just watching; we were part of the madness. Samurai and ninja training..... Hilarious! A Cyberpunk-ish geisha show.... Mesmerizing! Playing an actor... playing a samurai... playing a TV star. (10/10, would audition again.)
The talent here is unreal. Not just in swordplay and storytelling but in music, too! Every track was composed and performed by their own staff, adding even more to the amazing vibe. My personal favorite was OMG by RO2. Absolutely amazing. I downloaded it on Spotify as soon as I could and I'm still rocking it in my gym playlist everyday.
If you're in town, this place is a must-visit. Just be ready to bow, dodge, and possibly get recruited into a ninja clan and fight...
Read moreThis was so much fun!!! There were six in our party and five others in the audience and the performers made sure all of us were a part of the show. Even before the show started we got to talk with each of the performers. They speak Japanese and English throughout the whole performance so we were able to follow along with what was going on. The performers we're friendly and very talented. We all had such a fun time that we're planning on bringing more friends soon.
There are drinks that can be purchased and there are plenty of places nearby for a meal if you attend the evening performance. Tenjimbashi-suji (longest shopping street in Japan) is only a few hundred meters away just outside the station.
The main seating space is on floor mats, but they also have chairs available for those...
