Aobayama Park is a well-known tourist attraction located in the west side of Sendai city. It offers a quiet and relaxing environment for visitors. Inside the park, you'll find the Sendai City Museum (Under renovation until 31 Mar 2024), the Sendai Castle Ruins, and the Miyajiken Gokoku Shrine.
To reach Aobayama Park, you have a couple of options. If you are coming from Sendai City, a leisurely walk will lead you here. Alternatively, hop on the underground to the International Center Station.

This is a spot I definitely recommend when you come to Sendai. You can overlook Sendai from the perspective of Date Masamune, a Sengoku warrior. The statue of Masamune Date is one of the symbols that symbolizes Sendai. I think that you are highly satisfied with the magnificent castle ruins, outstanding views, and abundant souvenirs.

Read moreI believed this park was located on the site of the old Sendai castle. The castle is no longer there but we do see some old remnants of the past castle. This park offered a panoramic view of the Sendai city. Within the park, there are many different historical structures but sadly, when we were there, there was some renovation work on the Date Masamune on a horse statue but they did put up a picture on site for tourists to take pictures.
We parked our car right at the bottom of the hill and walked up. It was quite a climb and took us around 30 minutes but if did offer us great views...
