Wow, definitely one of the top highlights of my trip and a must for anyone new to Japan! Andy went out of his way to make this tour a fun, relaxing, informative and safe ride through the Westend district of Tokyo. Consisting of a small manageable group of 5 riders, I was lucky to be riding with like minded fun people, with my daughter, 2 dutch tourists and a French tourist all in tow wanting to see an authentic side of Tokyo only a guide like Andy could bring you. Biking through the back streets of Tokyo and mixing it with the locals, we blended seamlessly into the hustle and bustle that is the complex Japanese way of life. Both on the streets and at the frantic peak business hour lunch break we felt like locals! Absolutely loved every part of this journey and would definitely do it again when back. I highly recommend you book this experience in the first couple of days of your trip. Or keep the whole day free like we did, so you can either try to incorporate some of the sights back into your Tokyo adventure. My daughter and I went back and retraced a few key stops and then spent the evening dining in Nakano City to avoid the peak hour train going back to our stay. Nakano ended up being our favourite district now, it was a pleasure riding with a fellow Aussie, so thank you Andy.

I really enjoyed the West Side bike tour with Andy! Part of what I enjoy about traveling to a new city is to absorb local neighborhoods, and Andy was a great ambassador to his slice of Tokyo. The bikes were in good shape and well maintained, and we always felt safe and comfortable on our ride. Andy seemed quite attuned to us, and checked in quite often to make sure we felt comfortable. Since we were a small group, Andy was also able to tailor the ride to our interests; since he generally only takes out small groups, I have no doubt he'd solicit inputs ahead of heading out, to make sure the tour met his group's interests. During the trip, we visited a handful of local neighborhoods, quiet shrines, spacious parks, and typical eating establishments. The access we were able to get from Andy was awesome -- as a tourist, I would have never thought to explore the areas we saw with him, and I was really happy we were able to spend a day in regular neighborhoods, parks, shopping centers, and restaurants. I would highly recommend this trip to those wanted to get off the beaten path and see a real life neighborhood through the lens of a local.

We, my wife and two adult daughters, had such a great time on our bike tour with Andy. Andy is a warm and engaging person who really knows his way around Tokyo and has wonderful insight to its people and day to day life there. His bikes are nothing fancy but are in great condition and comfortable to ride. Andy makes sure everyone is safe and comfortable; no rider is left behind! We rode the streets and narrow back-ways of Koenji and Nakano (Tokyo's west side), at an easy pace with the option to take needed breaks, seeing a side of Tokyo unseen by most tourists where Andy informed us on how the residents live. The food portion of the tour was simple and delightful. We had a drink (from a common source but often overlooked by tourists), a meal (best Ramen we had our entire trip), and two snacks (both items we never would have known about otherwise) in the manner of a local. All from different local businesses and all with their own interesting back story. We highly recommend taking one of Andys bike tours to see a side of Tokyo that many tourists miss.

We had such an awesome time cycling with Andy! It was definitely a highlight of our first trip to Japan to experience Tokyo through the eyes of a local. Andy was able to answer all the specific little questions we had about everyday life in Tokyo, and we learned so much! This was a very digestible (literally and figuratively) tour for seeing a pocket of Tokyo and we’re so glad we chose it as our only organized tour for the trip. The bikes used for the tour have a fun and interesting backstory and are impeccably maintained, with very comfy seats. Our tour was on a pretty warm day and Andy was great about offering stops and water along the way. I’m also vegetarian and while Japanese food isn’t particularly veggie friendly, Andy went out of his way to find something for me at each food stop, which was very appreciated :) If you’re thinking about booking this for your group, don’t hesitate! The experience is so memorable and I can’t imagine a better host.

I definitely recommend DIG Tours. I have done several bicycle tours over the years and I would definitely recommend DiG Tours. This is a charming bicycle ride that reveals Tokyo in a unique and surprising way, and it was enjoyed it with the entire family. We found ourselves zig and zag through residential streets, taking in the details of Tokyo, like the zoo animals painted on the ground to help remind little kids to wait for cars before crossing the street. An old lady came out and shared some origami with us. For the right person, this is a really unique experience. Athletic wise, its’s a very manageable ride. Our five year old daughter kept up. Mixte bikes, stable at slow speeds, are the perfect bike to take in the surroundings. The walking portion was also fun. We had delicious ramen at a stand and visited a mall filled with Japanese toys, vintage cameras, photo albums & art books. At the end, we all enjoyed it and it was a fantastic moment.

Our bike ride with Andy was epic--in the pouring rain! We really appreciate that Andy was willing to give us options -- a local walking tour instead of biking since the rain was really hard. However, we kept with the plans and went ahead with the bike tour and we were all glad we got a chance to see the Koenji neighborhood and nearby areas with so many little side streets - both residential and commercial. Not having to look at a map gave us a nice sense of relaxation and enjoyment. Andy has created a very safe and enjoyable route. He was very friendly and informative, sharing his perspective and knowledge about Tokyo and what it's like to live there. My whole family (kids are 12 and 14) enjoyed the bike ride and time together. We had some really nice ramen, which helped warm our wet bones. It was very very wet and still a lot of fun.
