As a IHG Diamond Ambassador, I have completed a very satisfying 2-nights stay in this luxury property located in the vicinity of JR Shinagawa Station about two weeks ago. We last stayed in this property more than 10 years back and during this time, we have been enjoying ourselves in other Intercontinental properties during our vacations in Japan. We thought it would be a good time to try out this Shinagawa property again and we had a really wonderful time. The IHG status recognition was top notch during check-in. Staff were professional and friendly. We were given a high-floor premium room that is beautifully furnished and ergonomically designed. The housekeeping standard was excellent and I loved that the hotel had prepared the firm pillows we requested via email prior to our stay. I had access to the executive lounge via the IHG annual lounge pass and we had wanted to try out this new lounge. There was no dedicated executive lounge during our last stay. And what was our verdict of this new lounge? Wow! The lounge design exudes luxury and coupled with the amazing city views from the lounge, we spent our evenings next to the windows chilling out during our stay. The lounge is quiet and provides oasis of peace even during the cocktail hours. The young staff manning the executive lounge were warm and friendly. A highlight was the breakfast buffet in the restaurant. This has to be the top buffet breakfast experience we had the opportunity to try out, even beating the wonderful breakfast buffet experiences we had in the Beppu and Hanoi Intercontinental properties. The quality was really good and we loved the beautifully made pastries being offered by the chefs. French press coffee was available and it was very nice. It was a waste that baked cod fish was only available one day and it was absolutely delicious. Another highlight was the excellent quality of melons on offer at the Fruits section daily. Overall, an amazing stay in this luxury property and we cannot wait to be back in our next vacation.

The Strings by Intercontinental Hotel in Shinagawa offers a fantastic location with excellent connectivity to Haneda Airport and Tokyo Station. Its central positioning makes it a convenient choice for travelers, and the spacious rooms add to the comfort of the stay. However, there were a few areas that could use improvement. The air conditioning was not particularly effective, requiring me to request a fan in the middle of the night. Additionally, during summer, only two small water bottles (500ml each) were provided daily, which was insufficient. I had to request extra bottles every night—something that could easily be addressed with a more generous allocation. On the positive side, the view from room 3135 was stunning, offering a scenic glimpse of Haneda Airport and the mesmerizing sight of planes landing through a large glass window. It was truly a highlight of the stay. One detail that puzzled me was the inconsistency in room rates. Despite booking four consecutive nights, the second night was priced 350 yen higher than the rest, without a satisfactory explanation. While the amount itself was small, it raised questions about pricing policies—whether this is a standard practice in Japanese hotels or a broader global phenomenon. The breakfast experience was exceptional, thanks to the warm and attentive Nepali staff, especially Minato-san, who handled requests with patience and professionalism. The breakfast spread was impressive, offering a variety of healthy choices and a great selection of buffet items, all enjoyed under natural sunlight filtering from the top of the building. A special mention to Tanaka-san at the front desk, who kindly accommodated an early check-in, making the arrival experience seamless and welcoming. Overall, The Strings by Intercontinental Hotel provides a comfortable and well-located stay with breathtaking views and excellent service. With some tweaks in air conditioning, water supply, and pricing transparency, it could truly elevate the guest experience.

The Intercontinental The Strings hotel is a fabulous hotel. I had the opportunity to stay a night here and this hotel exceeded my exceptions. The day I checked into the hotel, I was flew from Hokkaido and was tired from the journey. All I wanted to do was check into my room and rest a few minutes before venturing out to explore Tokyo. The lobby is on the 26th floor of the building. I did not know this as I was looking for the lobby on the first floor and just happened to see the small sign with that specific instructions. At checkin, I was escorted to the club lounge to complete my checkin and to enjoy afternoon tea. I was quite happy with the afternoon tea as I was slightly hungry from the flight. When my room was ready, they escorted down to my room and showed me the elusive and exclusive bathtub nestled next to the window which overlooked Shinegawa. I was a breathtaking sight and you know I soaked in that tub to take in that view. The service at the Intercontinental is outstanding. From the checkin process, to the club lounge, and to daily requests, they went out of their way to make me feel at home (away from home). As I was celebrating my birthday on my trip, the hotel even provided me a cute small bear left on my bed with a note on the table. Chefs Kiss!!!!!!! The breakfast served at the club lounge was exquisite. And service is unmatched. The hotel is conveniently located next to Shinegawa station and shopping complex. So taking the JR or subway is a breeze. To find the hotel entrance from Shinegawa station, you only need to cross the bridge (2nd level) and look for the Excelsior Coffee shoppe. If you pass it, then you will miss the entrance to the hotel. Trust me. I missed this many times and wandered aimlessly trying to find the entrance to the hotel. Thank you INTERCONTINENTAL The Strings for a wonderful stay and home away from home for my trip to Tokyo.

In April 2023, I had the pleasure of staying at the International Strings in Shinagawa, Tokyo, Japan, booked through Delta Vacations. Overall, it was a decent experience with several noteworthy pros and just one minor con. Let's start with the highlights: Pros: - The room was exceptionally comfortable, offering a relaxing atmosphere for a good night's rest. - Although the train station view might not have been ideal, the possibility of catching glimpses of Mount Fuji under certain weather conditions added a delightful touch. - The presence of a bidet in the bathroom was a pleasant surprise, adding to the overall convenience. - The combination of a shower and a soaking tub allowed for a choice in relaxation methods after a long day of exploring. - The bathroom's Byredo products added a luxurious touch, even though I would have preferred them in travel size. - The hotel's location, right next to the Shinagawa train station with a connecting bridge, made it incredibly convenient for transportation throughout the city. - The breakfast buffet was delicious, and the staff's friendliness enhanced the dining experience. Cons: - Unfortunately, I wasn't informed of the international rates for phone calls, which led to an unexpected surprise on the bill. - Pretty expensive for it’s worth. Overall, my stay at the International Strings was comfortable, thanks to the convenient location. While the lack of information on international phone call rates was a minor inconvenience, it didn't overshadow the positive aspects of the stay. If you're looking for a well-located hotel with a comfortable room and great amenities, International Strings could be a suitable choice for your stay in Shinagawa, Tokyo. My next visit in Tokyo I think I would prefer to stay in Shinjuku.
