I'm an Uber Eats delivery guy, yesterday, July 9th, at 11:50 A.M. went to the Shinagawa Season Terrace building to pick up an order from the Kitakata Ramen restaurant. When I arrived at the building there were 2 employees in the building in front of the escalator. I asked the employees where the restaurant was located, one of the employees guided me and said that before going up I should take off my helmet, he said that it is not allowed to go up with a helmet. I went back to the bike, changed the helmet for a cap and went to get the order at the restaurant. When I left the restaurant I found another delivery guy wearing a helmet, another delivery guy went up to the same place as me, passed the same employees and went up in a helmet. I was in doubt, because I had to take off the helmet and the other delivery person didn't have to? So I stopped to think, is it because I'm a foreigner? Is it because I'm fat? Is it because my skin is sunburnt? Many times here in Japan I have had moments like this, police officers who stop me on the street to check my bike or motorcycle are stolen, one day a woman yelled at me because I was walking on the same sidewalk as her and I was a foreigner, or when I I went to the city hall and the man who was answering didn't want to help me. I don't want anyone to be punished, but I always treat everyone with a lot of respect, I just want to be respected too. I can handle going through these situations, but I keep thinking that other people might also go through the same situation and might be sad. For treating people with more respect and equality, I am a foreigner, but I am a human being too.
