If you're on the hunt for Momotaro Jeans, especially if you need sizes beyond standard Japanese offerings, you absolutely must visit MOMOTARO JEANS Koenji. It's a fantastic small shop, tucked away from the main tourist hubs, but don't let that deter you—their collection and range of sizes are truly impressive.
The standout of my experience was undoubtedly the manager/owner, Kiyoshi. He is incredibly knowledgeable and takes a unique, personalized approach, dedicating his time and care to one customer at a time. While this means you might need a little patience if the shop is busy, trust me, it's well worth the wait. Kiyoshi makes sure all your needs and questions are thoroughly addressed before he moves on to the next person. Some people might find this one-on-one attention a bit slow, and it's something a few others have apparently given negative reviews about, but honestly, it's totally worth the wait.
Kiyoshi's helpfulness extended beyond just jeans. For example, knowing I was interested in watches, he suggested checking out the nearby Nakano Broadway while I waited for alterations—a great tip! And when I picked up my jeans, he gave me insider recommendations for local ramen spots that aren't typically on tourist maps. The Tsukemen ramen he recommended was absolutely fantastic, and a highlight of my trip!
So, if you're in need of a pair of the iconic Momotaro Selvedge jeans and require sizes that are hard to find, make your way to MOMOTARO JEANS Koenji. Be patient, and you'll receive excellent service and walk away with a pair (or two, like me!) that you'll enjoy for years to come, along with some great memories. Thank you, Kiyoshi, for such a...
Read moreUnlike other commenters I had a very bad experience. First of all beware that sizes are smaller than in your country even though it's the same measure. I was wearing 32 size jeans and the 32 one here won't even rise. I had to get a 36 to fit, but the legs were incredibly wide and they wouldn't make the fit. Two, the stock they have is terribly limited, they only had no tapered jeans in my size. Third, they took half an hour to explain the most basic stuff to a Japanese old lady who was just hanging around while there were several people waiting to be helped. Either they expand the store, get more stock and hire more staff or they stop promoting...
