Read moreWe had a wonderful experience at Mogi Folk Art in Koenji. Terry and Keiko’s collection is an eclectic yet harmonious mix of traditional Japanese crafts, carefully chosen pieces from Africa and Asia and original clothing and footwear.
On our first visit we picked up a couple of beautiful bowls, but I could not stop thinking about the place, so I came all the way back across the city the next day to buy a set of plates, a pair of their Moonstars and a Koenji t-shirt. Everything was packed with such exceptional care that even after traveling all the way back to Finland, every piece of ceramic arrived perfectly safe.
Terry and Keiko are warm, friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. They clearly care deeply about the objects they stock and really take the time to explain the stories and origins behind many of them.
If you are in Koenji (or anywhere in Tokyo), do not miss this shop. You will leave not just with something beautiful, but also with the feeling that you have discovered and learned...
