Oguhachiman Shrine — Attraction in Tokyo

A new year's day visit. This smaller, local shrine had a homely feeling. Queues very short in the early evening. A small number of yatai (street stalls) within the shrine compound, offering street food and fun for kids. No long lines except for the mini Castella (sponge cake) stall. A very pleasant Tokyo East End experience, and access easy by Toden (Sakura tram/Arakawa line tram) with Miyanomae tram stop right in front of the shrine. 私は四年前まで、同じ荒川区でも日暮里で生まれ育ったので、都電沿いに由緒ある大きな神社があるのは知ってましたが、都電の停車場名が宮ノ前なので「宮ノ前神社」とばかり思ってました。 ９年前、この神社の近くの東京女子医科大学東医療センターに手術入院するので、初めて間違いに気付きました(笑) 退院してからここでお祓いを受けました❗ 難病の怪我ゆえ、なかなか直ぐに完治とは行きませんが、少しずつ良くなって来ており、八幡様に感謝しております。 また、八幡様と言うと武家の源氏の守り神と、これまた勘違い。 八幡様と言うと、源平問わず武士の崇敬の厚い神様でしたね。 この神社には厳島神社の小さな社もありました❗

それだけに、八幡様はどんな厄も追い払う逞しさをお持ちなのでしょう❗

今度は、両目の白内障の手術入院で女子医大に通っていますが、無事完治しますよう、病院に行く度にお願いしています❗ 左目は既に手術成功し、今週木曜から、今度は右目の手術で入院します❗ 八幡様のお力を、再三ながらも賜りたい気持ちで一杯です🤗

さすがに武士の神だけあって、病だけでなく厄払いに高い評判を得ています❗
