Ome Railway Park — Attraction in Tokyo

(Mainly) outdoor train museum of sorts. It is aimed at children. There are a few steam locomotives you can explore as well as lots of coin operated rides. There is a shinkansen engine too, but when we visited (February 2018) it was closed for a repaint.

The mini train that goes around a track is good fun. There are a couple of displays inside including a model town that has runs on the half hour. A staff member narrates the train show. At the end a Thomas train and Anpanman train also run around the track.

It is only 100 yen into the park, but each ride costs a 100 or 200 yen to operate. There is free parking, but it is not the space right in front of the museum, although cars park there it is actually a no parking area. The parking is just past the park at the foot...

2023.06.16平日の金曜日。前回早く着きすぎ入園断念。万を持してのリベンジ。圏央道事故渋滞で相性わるいかなあ？諦めようかなあ？インシデントありましたが、来て大正解でした。1)大型のジオラマで、職員の方の操作による総合運転を観ることが出来ました。（コロナで運転は休止していたようです）複雑な経路を多種の列車が走り回るのは壮観でした。当日は午後２時 出発進行。2)総合運転時間以外は 100円投入で自分でマスコン操作も出来ました。在来線車輌と新幹線の二種類が選択可能。在来線E230は先頭にCCDが仕込んであり、目の前のモニターにて運転手目線の画面を観ることが出来ました。3) 実物展示のD51は運転室に入り、運転席に座ることが出来ました。感激の一瞬でした。4) 展示鉄道模型は板切りから手作りでしょうか？種類多くて圧倒されます。 JRを退職した職人気質の人達の運営？その他展示物も手作り感満載。予算不足か？至るところに工夫を感じました。入場料 小学生以上100円。残念な事にミニSLは部品が手に入らず運転不能とありました。精密機械のSLの、そのまたミニチュア。難しいんでしょうね。クラウドファンディング募集の際は喜んで出資したいです。大宮鉄博と違い運転シミュレーターなんかありませんが、鉄道愛に満ちた公園は一見の価値があります。 前回ナビに従い、青梅駅側からとんでもなく狭い急坂でアクセスする羽目になりました。正解は、成木街道...
