【織田信長が本陣を構えたとされる】

1570年の越前侵攻における織田方の本陣。

1570年、織田信長は朝倉義景討伐のために3万の軍を率いて京を出陣。 朝倉氏領である越前国敦賀郡に侵攻した。 織田方は妙顕寺に本陣を置き、朝倉方の天筒山城と金ヶ崎城を攻撃。 天筒山城が同日、金ヶ崎城が翌日に攻め落とされると、朝倉方は敦賀郡を放棄するかのように木ノ芽峠まで後退する。 しかし、織田氏の同盟者である浅井長政が背後の近江国で挙兵。 その報を受けた織田方は敦賀郡から撤退し、朽木越えで京へと戻った。
