Located in Yanagawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture. The Yanagawa river cruise here has always been a famous attraction. When I came to Kumamoto this time, I decided to drive here to try the famous Yanagawa river cruise.
For the ticket price: The price for “water town Yanagawa sightseeing” is JPN 1,700 / per person. Each boat can accommodate up to 20 people.
It was very comfortable throughout the whole river cruise. We came here in November, and although it was a bit cold, the warm sunshine just reduced the chill.
In addition, the boatman is also very humorous and will introduce the history, footprints, and stories of some famous people around Yanagawa to passengers throughout the journey. They will even sing some local folk songs to make everyone immersed in the experience.
The entire trip from the starting point to the end of the downstream journey takes about 30-40 minutes, and after taking the boat, you can also eat eel rice nearby. It’s a really enjoyable attraction.
It is recommended that you must come and experience it when you come...

They gave me a map for the 3 boating ports. I went to the nearest one, Suigo Yanagawa Kanko. You can pay upfront (walk-in), then wait for the number of passengers to reach quota. It's perhaps 10 or 12 pax before the boat leaves. Luckily there was a large group of Chinese tourists who arrived so were able to go immediately. Our boatman was a bit young and he would suddenly sing in low (haunting) voice when we pass under a bridge 🤣. He didn't jump up the bridge and came down again tho. He just ducked his head like all of us. We saw a heron(?) bird by the river, waiting for the perfect time to catch a fish. After the ride, we all walked to the shuttle bus stop where the company was scheduled to return us to the initial port. It was about 10-15mins ride back. All in all, it was fun and relaxing, totally worth the hour of boating. Best to make sure you're not hungry...
Read moreDo not purchase from this company. Reception staff is racist. They do not do the bridge jumps. They weren’t friendly when we were going to board the shuttle to get to the boat dock and were also not friendly when we wanted the picture that was taken. Ourselves and other passengers were confused about the shuttle boarding since reception and staff were unclear about the procedure. During the boat tour everyone gets told to watch for the picture to be taken, and a picture gets taken and displayed on a screen on the house taking the picture as the boat sails by. Later when asked if we could buy the image, the receptionist said it’s for “Japan only” with no further explanation available. They don’t do the bridge jumping that most were hoping for. The boat girl spoke for the entirety of the tour (in Japanese with some words of caution in English). She seemed very knowledgeable of the area and the path the boat was taking. She was the only positive part of...
