Very rude and terrible service! Probably one of the worst cafe ever in Japan. We wanted a quick coffee fix before heading off to the train station, we entered and the bartender (probably the cafe owner) didn't even allowed us to sit at the bar and was forced to sit at the corner of the cafe when we were the only customer.
We then proceed to make our order but was told a minimum order of 1 food/drink per person, we totally understand and asked if we could leave our friend at the cafe and the rest of us wander nearby the station. He not only didn't allow us to leave our friend to order his coffee, he forced us to order 3 food/drink bcs we've already entered the cafe.
We got frustrated, we kindly let him know if it's the case, we'd like to leave as the rest of us didn't want any coffee, HE DIDN'T ALLOW US TO LEAVE. As we force our way to leave the cafe, the bartender threw water behind us and spit as we leave.
We love Yanagawa city and want to explore the city more with its beautiful scenery, food and people, but this shop owner ruined our entire trip experience in Yanagawa.
If you'd like to visit this cafe, beware of the bartender insanely terrible service if you're not native Japanese speaker. I would rate this the worst ever cafe service I've experienced. Highly DO NOT...
Read moreWe had the most amazing Japanese cafe experience. The decor, atmosphere, drinks, sandwiches and deserts were all impeccable. Coffee best we have had in Japan. To see the negative reviews for a small business who offers very affordable drinks for the absolute quality they provide….shame to these tourists who do not appreciate small business or the culture. Get some manners or do not come here. It’s an amazing experience and one I hope does not go by the wayside due to disrespectful tourists. We came on a Sunday morning and it was not busy at all so perhaps the disrespectful tourists have had some impact to this small business but I do hope if you are wanting a true Japanese vintage service…give...
Read moreThe entire set up of the cafe spells Elegance! There is just so much finese from the attire worn by the owner to how he plates his food and even his vintage china collections- which I simply love. I came to know that his wife plays the harp too. A pity she wasn't onsite when we popped in earlier today.
My daughter was the one who navigated us to this charming cafe knowing I love vintage wares.
Point to note- waffles with matcha is a must order and with any accompanying sets, you are able to order the caramel pudding at ¥100!
Thank you for the lovely encounter and glad we shared a common interest over teacups!
