It's a beautiful temple in the Mangalore. This temple is dedicated to Lord Manjunatha as well as other deities such as Lord Ganapathi, Goddess Durgaparameshwari, Lord Ayyappa. There are ponds within the premises if you want to take a dip. Since it is located amidst nature, it brings in a certain aura and peace. Lots of parking available too. Go around 10 am coz the crowd is less. There is a natural spring at the temple premises and the water flow is constant throughout the year. It is called a Gomukha thirtha. If you are a followed for Lord ShivaJi, you can offer your respect by pouring holy water on the Shivling here. Lord Shiva's promise Lord Shiva told Parashurama to perform penance at Kadali Kshethra, and he would reincarnate as Manjunatha to improve the world. Parashurama's struggle Parashurama threw his axe into the sea to create a place for his penance. He fought with the ocean king to secure the land, and the king eventually gave it to Parashurama. Lord Shiva's appearance Lord Shiva appeared to Parashurama as Manjunatha with Goddess Parvathi. He ordered Parashurama to build a temple with the help of Vishwakarma, a divine sculptor. The temple The Kadri Manjunatha Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is believed to be the oldest Shiva temple in Mangalore. It's also known as Dharma Sthala, which means "a place that values truth and dharma". The temple is famous for its annual car festival during Makar Sankranti, and its light festival during Karthika Masa. It also has tanks with natural springs and laterite caves known as the Pandava Caves.

One of the oldest Shiva temple. The ancient Kadri Manjunatha temple said to be built in 1068 A.D and is considered to be the oldest of south Indian temples. The presiding diety Manjunatha swamy, is an Udhbava Linga. The temple built in vijayanagar style with traces of Buddhism. This temple has Hindu and Buddhist histories. Buddhism was practiced here till the 10th century AD. The temple also has a majestic Lokeshwara bronze statue with 3 faces, 6arms & is seated in padmasana position. It's said to be one of the rarest and best bronze statue in India. An inscription dated 968 AD on the pedestal of Lokeshwara states that king Kundavarma of Alupa dynasty installed idol in Kadarika vihara. ( Kadarika means hillside pasture land & vihara means Buddhist settlement). Temple also has idols of Matsyendranatha, Gorakhanatha, Sringinatha inside the main temple. Matsyendranatha, a disciple of Adinatha along with his disciple Gorakhanatha made kadiri vihara their home in 10th century, after the fall of Buddhism, Nath cult was embraced which merged with Shiva beliefs, who were known as the Jogis of Kadri, & their monastery is called as jogi mutt. On the top of the Kadri hill, king Kundavarma Bupendra built jogimutt. The temple has 7 holy theerthas, located 20ft above. There is a natural spring called Gaumukha Bhagirathi Theerthas, as it resembles a cow's mouth. It's considered to special, it's origin is not properly known, but it's said that the water is coming from Kashi. There is a Ganesh temple, Durga Parameshwari temple, Ayyappa temple, Gaumukha Ganapathi temple and Hanuman statue separately within the premises of the temple. There is Anna Prasad a service offered after Maha mangalarathi in the afternoon 12.30pm everyday.

Pleasure to share about Kadri Manjunatheshwara temple, very ancient temple that have more history than Dharmasthala Manjunatha temple. Story says lord Manjunatha was taken to Dharmasthala from this place. Visitor can experience the Story by just watching the surroundings of the temple. Lord Shiva as manjunatha is the main diety and there lord Sathyanarayana statue and daiva chavadi (malaraya daiva and annappa panjurli) also seen inside the temple and out side Ganapati Gudi, Durgaparameshwari Gudi, Shasthavu Ayyappa Gudi are there. The shiva Linga is itself a miracle bcz it's steady and stable on flowing water(said ganga water)without any support. It's not easy to see the lingam without knowing because there is a metalic face of lord Manjunatha so visitors just believes it as the real,though it's real but the main udbhava lingam is just under the face. To offer Abhisheka to lord they use water of a pond which is right inside the temple. It is said that the water there comes from Kaashi to this place There are 7 holy ponds [(out side the temple)(created by lord shiva on the basis of 70 million chants of lord parashurama.)]to take holy bathe. One more is Bhagirathi theertha its also ganga water comes from Kaashi.(its flowing water so one can drink it and take bathe also.) It's better to Visit this temple to know much information about. Above the temple kadri hill is there. Thereaslo many religious things could be seen. Visit both the place, it may take half of a day to properly see both the places and it's history.
