The word park in Kazakhstan does not just mean a place with lots of trees. It also means an amusement park. This double meaning goes back to the Soviet epoch when nearly every city had a so called park of culture and recreation that not only provided an opportunity to spend time in nature but also enjoy Soviet-made rides and attractions. Anyone who was growing up in the Soviet Union probably remembers going to a Soviet park as a kid. I certainly vividly remember the countless times when as a kid I went to such park in my hometown Astana, which, by the way still exists.

Undoubtedly, Almaty tops all other cities in Kazakhstan with its number of parks with Astana fast catching up. One can say that Almaty is one huge park given how green it is especially in the summer. Today, Almaty has both parks which combine nature and amusement and parks that provide just quiet green spaces to walk around. Some of Almaty’s parks are the oldest in Kazakhstan. The Central Park of Culture and Recreation (Gorky Park)

The oldest park in Almaty, the Central Park of Culture and Recreation or simply, the Central Park, was established in 1856 as a garden. In 1934 the park underwent a major reconstruction and was also turned into an amusement park. Today, the Central Park offers scenic views complete with an artificial lake, attractions and rides, indoor and outdoor water parks, places for sports, boat rental, Dolphinarium and Dinosaur park.

Люблю Фэмили-парк. Каждый день бываю в нем, так как рядом живу. Меня привлекают тенистые аллеи, свежий воздух, пропитанный запахом сосен, елок и цветов. Красивые клумбы.Всегда чистота и порядок. Улыбки взрослых и детей говорят о многом. С давних времен здесь растут огромной высоты деревья, жаль только, что их часто укорачивают, а то и просто спиливают. Да, сажают новые, но тени жарким летними днями они пока не прибавляют. Очень жарко на танцевальной площадке из-за того, что каждый год вокруг нее на нет спиливают ветки карагачей. Плавится асфальт, каблуки застревают в смоле, которая должна была спасти асфальт от трещин. Не очень нравится музыка, транслируемая по радио. Она не соответствие слову "фэмили". Нужны песенки для людей разного возраста, включая бабушек и детишек, а не только современные молодежные ритмы. Спасибо за тренажеры. А вот детская площадка стоит дорого. Целый городок из пластика вместе с напольный покрытием, нагреваясь на солнце, выбрасывает в атмосферу разную китайскую "химию". Старая детская площадка была не столь красочная, зато проста, экологически и за 200 тенге ребенок мог там быть неограниченное время. И горки были высокие. Раньше на площадке эстрадной проводились для детей разные мероприятия, концерты. Выступали в основном школьные коллективы. Сейчас это редкость. А зимой парк вообще замирает. Жаль, что снегоуборочные машины своя снег на задний двор. Почему бы не сделать из него для детей веселые ледяные горки. Это не дорого. Нет и теннисных столов, спортивной площадки для игры в волейбол для детей и взрослых. Спасибо за чистоту аллей, за живой уголок, аттракционы, картинг, боулинг, военную площадку. Наши парки невозможно сравнить с парками в Тайланде. Там люди в миллион раз трудолюбивее нас....
