Panda is a bear species native to China but due to Malaysia-China's 40 years of diplomatic relationship, Malaysia received a pair of to be housed in the Giant Panda Conservation Centre in Zoo Negara. So check it out if you can, this is one experience you won't want to miss. You don't have to pay extra for this, the fees are covered with your Zoo Negara ticket.
It's clear that the Pandas received VIP treatment. They have their own beautifully built conservation centre that is dedicated to housing them. The inside of the centre is air-conditioned, making it comfortable not only for the Pandas but for visitors as well. Since the centre is located rather inward of the Zoo, this place also serves as a refreshing R&R.
You won't see too many Pandas inside. They only sent us two Pandas from China and the pair have since given birth to three more Pandas but one of them have returned to China. So there are 4 left and if I'm not mistaken, these Pandas won't be here forever. So, go see them while they are still here!
There's a sign that says visits are limited to 5 minutes. But since I was there on a weekday morning, there wasn't any crowd and I could stay as long as I want inside. But I reckon some enforcement may come into play if you come during peak seasons.
If you are coming with kids and strollers, be cautioned that you'd have to leave your strollers outside. So don't travel with too many bags/things that you won't want to leave outside with the stroller.
The Centre has its own cafe and gift shop but like any other F&B and gift shops in a tourist area, expect to pay a premium price for average quality experience.
Summing it up:
Conservation Centre is really nice and clean inside. Inside is air-conditioned. Strollers have to be left outside. Not wheelchair friendly from what I observed Pandas are very cute! Gift shop and Cafe are expensive. Fees included in Zoo Negara ticket. 5 minutes visit limitation but not enforced...
Read morePersonally, I think my trip to the Giant Panda Conservation, which is located right in the Malaysian National Zoo (a.k.a Zoo Negara), was absolutely nice.
When you enter into the centre, you will be greeted by the cool breeze of air conditioning, which provides you with an escape from the heat of the outside. Then as you walk into the centre, there will be life size bear cut-outs where you can compare your size to their's. There will be additional educational information on bears from all around the world too, while their skulls will be on display for everyone to see, which is extremely cool and interesting.
After that, you will have to go down a fleet stairs, which will take you to the pandas. The pandas are so cute and fluffy, truly a sight to behold. When observing the pandas, it is to be noted that you should not make much noise and that you should not use flash when taking photos.
Nonetheless, these restrictions didn't stop me from enjoying the pandas at a somewhat close distance. The pandas can be seen eating, playing around, and sleeping. They are exotic and wonderful animals, that definitely deserve our attention.
Before leaving the centre, there will be observatories where you can see and learn how the pandas' food is made, how their babies are taken care of, and so on. There will be a restaurant for hungry guest to dine too, and the food there seems to be very delicious judging from the smell and the looks.
This conservation centre is definitely a must visit for everyone, especially children. I totally recommend it without doubt, afterall, how many chances will you get to see pandas comfortably?
Hope this review helps, thanks...
Read moreThe Giant Panda Conservation Centre is a must-visit for anyone who loves these adorable creatures. The whole building is built with the panda's needs in mind, and it shows in the way the pandas are cared for and the facilities provided.
One of the best things about the Centre is the air conditioning, which ensures that the pandas are comfortable and happy in their environment. The Centre also requires visitors to be silent during their visit, which creates a peaceful atmosphere that allows visitors to really connect with these amazing animals.
One thing to note is that visitors are only allowed five minutes with the pandas. While this may seem like a short amount of time, it is necessary to prevent the pandas from becoming stressed or overwhelmed by too much human interaction.
Finally, I was disappointed to learn that the baby pandas will be sent back next year. However, I understand that this is part of the Centre's conservation efforts, and I appreciate the work they are doing to protect and preserve these...
