Went there during Agongâs birthday. Bought 4 tickets around 1030 and were told that we were batch 31 and that we would need to wait for 3 hours to board the funicular. Kinda expected it so we went somewhere else to kill the time. Fast forward to 3 hours later, we got back just in time as they were calling for batch 30 to gather in the boarding area. We stood there, waiting patiently for our turn thinking it wasnât gonna take long. 30 mins passed but the line wasnât moving, batch 30 was still at the boarding area. My patience was running thin so I approached the guard there and asked if she knw how much longer do we need to wait. She replied and I quote âlambat lagi, 27 28 pun tengah tunggu lagiâ she then gestured me to look at the right side, the true boarding area....it was crowded, and according to the guard they were batch 27 28 and 29....I was a lil upset I went to the counter to ask if itâs true that I would need to wait for another 3 hours to board the funicular. If thatâs the case, could I get a refund? What the receptionist said in the next triggered me. Arrogantly, She said âdidnât we inform you that you have to wait for at least 3 hours for the funicular service?!â She kept saying it when I tried to reasoning with her, telling her that I did wait for 3 hours for the funicular. She then directed me to the staff whom sold me the tickets. The staff basically said the same thing, told me that the boarding time printed on the ticket stated âestimatedâ, so there was no guarantee that I could board the funicular on time. I then proceed to ask him if itâs because the funicular was malfunctioning that caused the delay, he said he didnât know.
I donât mind waiting tbh since itâs holiday. What upsets me the most is that no announcement was made for the delay. All of the staff there just let the tourists to stand there like a fool, waiting for nothing. None of them took any effort to inform the tourist about the delay and would blame the tourist for not knowing it.
Should they not think for the tourists that we have our schedule of the day planned and that the announcement could allow us to make adjustment to...
Read moreHad a poor experience here. First is the issue with queueing. When our coach number was being called, we'd expect to be ready to board the funicular but instead we had to queue for at least another 30mins. I went there with my elderly and my European friends, and it was a very bad experience for us & them.
Secondly, the penang hill attractions were too badly developed. Theres this one poorly built dinosaur park. I am so ashamed to even explain this 'attraction' to them. It's just so badly built. I wonder if the management team has ever visited other countries for inspiration to begin with. It's just so bad and embarassing.
Thirdly, there's this extra layer of turnstile at the bottom station upon exiting the funicular. One would expect to finally able to leave the funicular after having your ticket scanned at the top-hill station but no, they asked us to scan again, which is absolutely unnecessary!
Forth: the aunties who are in charged of the queue at the bottom station going up. My family and i were queuing in one line and then she for whatever reason asked the other families at the back to all squeeze in at the line. Our line kena potong, from queuing one line become 4 lines. Mind you i am bringing elderly, my uncle has vision problem. Im so disappointed.
Overall, this place is so waste of time and money. Not worth any energy, time nor penny. Nothing to do at the top as well looks like kids...

Beautiful flowers n plants along the way walking up. Went right up to the top. Nice scenery across the hill. Pay M$2/- to use the binoculars. Too quick don't get to see much. It was foggy. There was some cafe for some bites but didn't go in there. It was halal. They had some kind of art work drawn on the face. I saw some people with it on their faces but not for me. There was a photographer u can ask him take pictures of u like u go into his garden frame. U have to pay for it I think it's M$10/- Overall it was fun. They were selling some snacks u can buy n munch on your way walking up. There were some stalls selling some fruit drinks. Nice we liked it. Right at the top there was an Indian temple. We just walked in n came out. There was a mini bus for about 5 people with a driver who can drive you n your family one big round n show you the British Colonial houses. U have to pay for it M$30/- I saw from a distant view but me n some of my relatives didn't take the ride. The rest took the ride. They enjoyed it n said they were feeling cold. We saw like a coffee shop with hot n cold drinks n deserts. We went in there to have some drinks n left after that. Got tired n left Penang Hill for dinner. Alot of tourists visiting...
