Lily Penang Hill Ice Kacang — Restaurant in George Town

One of my goals during this trip to Penang was to get a great shaved ice dessert or a parfait.

Since I was struggling to find a parfait, when I saw this shop, I felt excited. I also loved avocado shakes in Kuala lumpur, so I was interested in trying one in Penang as well.

Our order: Avocado shake with brown sugar Mango / honey dew sago

I have already tried several avocado shakes in KL. But the one they offered was a little different from any of the ones I tried before. They used brown sugar syrup around the cup, not chocolate syrup. I am from Japan, and brown sugar syrup has a nostalgia value from my childhood. And I loved the combination of brown sugar with fresh avocado flavors. God, they made a great avocado shake! So far I could not find anywhere else that sells brown sugar avocado shakes, so I do appreciate their creative challenges. Somehow in the super markets in KL, it is very difficult to find good mangos. Only from restaurants or food vendors, I can get those golden orange yum-yums. One thing I was concerned about was the temperature. On the top of the bowl, mangos were at the room temperature. Sago as well. But as we went deeper in the bowl, they lay a sheet of shaved ice on the bottom, so in the end, I enjoyed it very much. I loved those tiny dragon balls which were filled with fruit juice and exploded when I bit. Fruits were all fresh. Cooling us down after long walk in rainforest area nearby. I've been a customer of this stall for almost a year now after my hikes & no disappointments so far. The proprietor Zess is a friendly lady with a smile always even though at the busiest of times. They have a huge selection of dessert choices from the simplest Ais Kacang (MYR4) to some exquisite arrangements such as Chocolate Banana. Also do try out their blended fruit juices (Avocado is a good choice to try) or just a plain old glass of warm Horlicks.

As with any stall, expect a long wait at peak hours. A perfect place to cool down after your hike or just a place to relax after visiting the surrounding...

One of the best ice kacang stall on the top of Penang Hill. The ice kacang and other desserts are not too sweet and plenty of ingredients being pour in the bowl. One of the best decorated ice kacang. The kids were so happy looking at these desserts, some top with a big scoop of ice cream. It is recommended to share the desserts as their portion is big. And be prepared for long que during the weekend and holiday season. Surprisingly, the price is affordable and best value for such a big dessert. And it is located at the tourist area.
