Visited back in Jan. The Sri Aruloli Thirumurugan Temple is a South Indian Hindu temple at the top of Penang Hill. It’s a typical South Indian style temple. That is, with a gopuram, is painted in bright bold colours. The main difference is that the temple has an open plan front portico that leads into the main hall and sanctum sanctorum. The temple is dedicated to Lord Murugan, the Hindu God of War. Stylistically, it’s very similar to the Hindu temples in the Batu Caves complex, especially in the sculptural decorations such as the green lion figures at the front of the temple entrance.

Sri Aruloli Thirumurugan, or better known as the Penang Hill Hindu Temple – to locals, which started off as a small shrine devoted to the lord Murugan and also happen to be one of the oldest Hindu temples in Penang.

Beautifully colored Indian temple built in the 1800s and dedicated to Lord Murugan. Open to public for viewing. My first visit inside an Indian temple. Great experience.
