Visiting The Habitat Penang Hill👇 The Habitat park is an incredible place to see the diverse vegetation and wildlife of Penang island while floating above the rainforest on canopy walks. You also get a birds eye 360 degree view of Penang Island from the Tree Top Walk - the highest point on the island. Here are some tips for your visit: 🌳The Penang Hill Funicular is the quickest and most convenient way to get there (I highly recommend getting there close to opening if you want to avoid long lines for the funicular) You can also buy tickets in advance on The Habitat website 🌳It’s great escape from the heat 🌳Open daily from 9am-7pm (last entry at 5:30pm) 🌳Sunset walks on the Tree Top Walk are available on weekends 🌳Zip-lining thought the rainforest is available on select days and advance reservations are highly recommended 🌳Admission is 60RM (13USD) for Adults, 40RM ($9USD) for Kids 4-12 🌳Bring sunscreen, bug spray and water 🌳Outside of the park are several food vendors so not a big deal if you forget snacks The Habitat is B Corp Certified and promotes education, research and sustainable tourism that helps persevere biodiversity. This definitely is a place to visit! Depending on how much time you have you can easily spend from 2 hours to a full day here! And I am not counting the waiting time here! There really is a lot to do. First of all, I highly recommend to buy the tickets online, this already will save you around 20 minutes or so at least, depending on the day and time. Secondly, Invest the money for the fast lane ticket!!! This is very important. Going up I bought the normal ticket and we waited more than 2 hours to finally get on top!!! It is not worth the time you will lose in the waiting lines. Especially if you are planning zo get there early and spend more time there. When buying the ticket you have the option to buy a ticket to only go up in case you would like to come down by foot. And if you didn't buy the fast lane ticket to go up, you can upgrade your normal ticket to fast lane to go down. Because going down can take up to 4 hours or more in the waiting line for the train! Especially with kids, not worth the hassle. Now to the sights. The first big one is the train itself! It's the steepest train ride in the world. The ride is about 6 minutes and is really amazing, going through the jungle while seeing the city. Once you are up there, you will find many different things to do. There is a love park, where you can walk through hearts and have your pictures taken. There are food stalls and restaurants, from where you can enjoy the view. Going further up there is a mosque and a hindu temple that you can visit. Next to the sky restaurant is a guy who offers to make a Drone view video of you for only 40 MYR, that is really fun and I definitely would recommend it. From the sky restaurant you can go further up to an event location. It's used a lot for weddings, and over the weekend there are events but if you are there during the day or early afternoon, they don't mind if you come up to take some pictures and enjoy the amazing view from there. Wherever you will go you will find a lot of monkeys! So beware of your things , they can come and grab your stuff! But it's still awesome to see monkeys in action. Also there is an activity park, whee you have a course of around 8km. It includes a hanging bridge and a 360 viewing platform. You can easily plan 2 hours for this. Finally you can either take the train down or walk, depending on the time. The first train goes before sunrise, somewhat around 5 am and the last around 10 pm.

Penang is a holiday destination popular for its delicious local food and exciting attractions. When you’re in Penang, one place that’s an absolute must-visit is The Habitat Penang Hill. The Habitat sits on the fringe of the Penang Hill jungle reserve area and celebrates the biodiversity that lies in Malaysian rainforests. At The Habitat, you can be close to nature and marvel at its wonders. There are plenty of fun things to do here, so be sure not to miss out on any excitement! Here’s our guide to this vast rainforest discovery centre to help you make the most of your visit: Admission Here are some important details you need to know: The Habitat is open daily from 9 AM to 6 PM (exit by 7 PM) Langur Way Canopy Walk This canopy walk, approximately 230 metres in length and set 40 metres above the ground, goes right through the jungle to give you a bird’s eye view of the rainforest. This walkthrough the jungle is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before! On this elevated walkway, you can admire the different layers of the forest from the forest floor to the emergent canopy. Curtis Crest Treetop Walk The Treetop Walk is the highest 360-degree viewing platform in Penang. It provides visitors a spectacular view of the island, and on clear days, Langkawi can also be seen in the distance. Walk around the platform and marvel at the beauty of nature before you. Trail and Gardens The Habitat offers a 1.6 km long Nature Trail for visitors to explore the forest at their own pace and be closer to nature. Charming gardens line the way including Fern Garden, Butterfly Bank, Fragrant Garden, and Ginger and Palm Grove. Read the educational signs along the way to learn more about the various flora and fauna that reside in this enchanting rainforest. This Sunset Walk combines the wonders of the Nature Trail and Treetop Walk to give its visitors an unforgettable evening. Start with a Guided Nature Walk with trained naturalists and then, head over to the Treetop Walk to watch the sunset. The highest viewing point on the island offers a sunset view unlike any other. End your visit with a Guided Night Walk through the Nature Trail by lantern light. You may catch a glimpse of some exotic animals including Flying Lemur, Giant Flying Squirrel, Penang Gecko, and many others.

Only recently opened in 2019 and The Habitat at Penang Hill is already a recommended tourist destination when you visit Penang, and for very good reasons. Located 800m above sea level, The Habitat provides you a distinct and clear view of Penang, Penang Bridge, it's coastal waters, and a view of it's the mainland. There is a 10 floor parking building beside the base of Penang Hill that can accommodate approximately 120 cars. This is more or less the only place you can park at if you decide to drive to Penang Hill. To get to The Habitat, you will need to buy funicular tickets up. It's the journey UP and BACK DOWN with the funicular which is the most frustrating, as it can take up to 45-minutes to an hour just to wait for the funicular. I would strongly recommend buying a fast-pass if you're a senior citizen, as tickets are the same price. Leave your more able-bodied adult friends/children to weather the wait. Nevertheless as atrociously long as the wait was, it was nice that Penang Hill provides free Wi-Fi at both the bottom and top funicular stations. Entertainment has to come from somewhere I guess? While the tickets are fairly pricey, I think it's fairly worthwhile going leveraging on the regular promotions tied to The Habitat Penang Hill. In AUG 2020, I utilized the Touch N Go e-Wallet promotion that offered a 50% discount on all standard priced tickets to buy both my parents and my own tickets to the Habitat. The walk itself would usually take approximately 1-2 hours long IF you DO NOT take any pictures. But you're definitely bound to, who am I kidding, so expect your stay to extend to around 3-4 hours on average instead. The Habitat greenery is one of the best 'maintained' that you will be able to find on the Malaysian Semenanjung Peninsula. And while you won't have that nice cool breeze blowing past you as it does in colder climates, you do get that nice humid-dewy feeling from the tropical humidity. When visiting, remember to bring a cap and sunglasses as it could get very hot from the sun. There are limited water stations and food outlets in the area; so if you require lots of food boosters walking around, bring your own. #plushbu2020

Highly recommended 👍 👍👍. Need to go up the Penang Hill via the Funicular (tram). So, make sure you go early to avoid the long queue and hot sun later at the Habitat 😅. For the Habitat, no need to pre-purchase tickets but most of the time you can get better offers via online purchase. We bought our tickets during the last Matta Fair..RM100 for 2 Adults n 2 Children (non-guided tour). The entrance fee for children and senior are the same. Normal price is RM60 for Adults and RM40 Child/Senior. Family Package (2 Adults & 2 Children) is RM160.00. There are volunteers to help and guide you. Seniors can still visit (walk slowly and enjoy the fresh air environment) but not suitable for those with wheelchairs. For the Curtis Crest Treetop Walk, need to go up staircase (4 floors up) to enjoy the 360° view of Penang (really gorgeous view). Seniors can go up slowly 💪💪💪. Water dispensers are provided in quit a number of places in the park's surrounding area, so don't have to worry if you water bottles are empty 👍(Refer to map of the Habitat for reference). The toilets near the Andaman tents (you can take a rest there if you are tired) are very clean (for the staff at Habitat...keep up the good work 💪). The toilets even have fans and water heaters (think this is for the campers) 👍. The Langur Way Canopy Walk was great, can walk slowly to enjoy the great view. They also have 2 giant swings, can take photos there with the nice view. Towards the end of you walk, there's a cafe, where they sell souvenirs and drinks. After that, you can wait at the Shuttle Station for the shuttle to ferrying you back to the Dataran near the 2nd Generation Train Coach (refer to Penang Hill map). Worth the visit. Hope you guys will enjoy the Habitat too.👍
