This place has pleasantly surprised us! Will go again. Though not keen to see animals captive, wondering if this is a retirement home for exotic pets. ENclosure maintenance, healthcare and education activities practiced here look ok. I wish they had more resources to do all the things they'd like for the animals!
It's run with passionate and well-trained staff; from intern to keeper, they love sharing about their animals during the education shows and in their private time.
We saw frog, snake and crocodile feeding. Crocodile feeding encouraged them to use natural behaviours and was on the background of an education session in Malay. It was cool as keepers went inside the enclosure and looked skilled and respectful when interacting with some big crocs!
The pony ride is fun, and the handler was kind and gentle with both his animal and our child.
Didn't get to try the water play area but it looked fun and the water seemed clean. There were some picnic tables nearby.
Add-ons we've found worth buying: feeding pack with food for emus, farm birds, rabbits and deer - all of which you can see and touch (to different degrees). a photo at the booth since there was no donation box and the ticket price was quite...
Read moreA lot of crocodiles but a lot more needs to be improved. Some positives first: The employees were excellent, trying their best to make do with what seems like a budget constraint. The croc feeding was well explained. The ticket counter and reptile house staff was also very friendly. Now the negatives.
Firstly, general directions and signage were lacking. A simple map would help. Each crocodile enclosure also did not have any information on the crocodiles in each area. Some had a laminated paper with the name and species, but that was it.
Secondly, amenities. Walkway was slippery and unkept, many dead ends, and quite dirty. The animal enclosures were also not well kept, for example, the deer enclosure was muddy and dirty. The 'mini Malaysia' was probably amazing in the 80s but today, any mall lobby decoration looks better.
Thirdly, general park design was confusing and strange. There is a water park in a crocodile farm. Concrete crocodile enclosures painted bright colors and patterns. Empty cages supposedly housing birds.
I hope that a major makeover is done, similar to the KL Bird Park. The place has potential, if more funds are directed more...
Read moreThis is one of the ancient places that needs to keep up with the era except for the crocodiles. I get to learn many species of the crocodiles, their behavior, diet, and count them in their enclosure. The security guard is surprisingly the ticket giver and does not really gives a good direction to where the live shows is. I am upset that the crocodile show is just the speaker spewing facts about the crocodiles. The worst educational show I ever seen. Did you know that crocodile open their mouth to avoid overheating? By the way, I got that info from the Internet. Do not worry as this place do have reptiles (snakes & turtles), bird aviary and deer farm. However, the picture on top of the python gives a wrong info about them. They are not venomous at all. The big aviary was closed when I was there. You can also go to their water park to cool down, see replicas of famous monuments/buildings in Malaysia and crocodile's skeletons. Haunted house is no longer open. Be aware that parking space in front of the park is limited and ticket price is slightly higher during the weekend. But, if you want the same price as the weekday, buy them on...
