We came here on a monday morning when it wasnt as crowded yet. There are 2 carparks available, one premium and one normal. Other than the ground type and proximity to the oriental village, couldnt see what else was different. We parked at the non premium carpark and started heading towards the oriental village. The first spot you will encounter is the london shuttle bus service booth. Basically its like a golf course type of buggy outfitted to look like a mini london bus. It was probably a bit gimmicky as they will tell you its far to walk from the carpark to the ticket booth to buy the cable car tickets. We thought since the London bus did look very cute and its probably our one and only visit to langkawi cable car, we decided to buy tickets for the shuttle bus service. We paid Rm10 per pax (our youngest 4yo kid did not require a ticket) for return trip and proceeded to board the mini London bus. Climbing up was a bit difficulty as the stairs were tiny and narrow. We sat down and soon began our 5mins trip to the cable car ticket booth. It was very bumpy and its a bit hot/sunny on the upstairs deck. It bypassed all the small shops along the way and it deposited us near to the cable car ticket booth. The return trip runs till around 4pm only so take note if you have paid for the return trip. We walked 5mins and reached the ticket booth area. There are many many different types of packages. We actually on the spot purchased our tickets on online/klook and proceeded to the physical booth to claim our tickets. You will have to wear the entrance tickets around the wrist as each ticket comes with a QR code that you will have to scan/enter each turntile. We boarded the cable car and soon began our trip from base station/ticket booth to middle station. Note that the interior of the cable car felt a bit stuffy and hot as well. Didn't feel breeze as the cable car is quite enclosed (not air-conditioning as well). We reached the middle station and took a quick walk around. Note that there are some spots around here scattered around on the platform for photos taking, but unless you have purchased the package that includes eagle nest walking, there is nothing much to do here at middle station. We quickly headed back towards the cable car to board the next one to bring us up to top station. At top station we realised our ticket did not include the skyguide which is basically a one car carriage traveling on like rail tracks to bring you to the sky bridge platform from middle station. They will recommend you to actually take the skyguide if you have young kids or elderly as it will take quite abit of walk + stairs climbing to get from top station to sky bridge platform. There is a ticket counter at the top station which we could upgrade our package to include the skyguide now instead of just buying alacarte skyguide tickets. Its a bit squeezed as there was only one carriage ferrying people between top station to skybridge platform. Note they will packed almost 20pax standing format (no seats) in the tiny carriage for the shuttle. There is probably no views that you can enjoy within the tiny/crowded carriage. Luckily it was probably less than 5mins to travel to skybridge platform (queuing probably takes longer). The skybridge itself offers great view 360 degrees around and scattered along the bridge are all these semi transparent glass platform that you can stand ontop to look downwards all the way downstairs to the bottom of the valley. Quite an experience but the glass floor are a bit chaffed/dirty to be really transparent to see all the way down. We walked all the way to the end of the sky bridge and back again. Probably spend less than 15mins here in total and then spend a fair bit of time to queue for the sky glide to get back to top station. Once you are at top station, you can board the cable car all the way to base station (note that you will pass through middle station, cannot alight) all the way down to base station. We chose to walk back to the carpark this time round, forteiting our return trip/ticket for...

One star for the amazing views at the top. One star for Anis who was the only person who understands anything about customer service.
Here is our experience.
We bought tickets online. Our e-tickets said to go to counter 6 to pick them up. We waited 15 minutes in line just to be told (rudely) that we should not be at counter 6 but counter 4 instead. We waited again for 10 minutes and when we reached the front they told us that the vendor we used (which we found on their website) was no longer accepted. They told us to go to the customer service counter. We specifically pointed to the left and asked if the counter was this direction. They said yes. We also asked if there was a sign above the counter that said Customer service. They said yes.
We walked away and found no such counter. This is when we finally ran into Anis who was standing near the entrance to the sky cab. She directed us on how to apply for a refund and helped us skip the line that we already waited in twice to purchase tickets similar to the ones we had online. She gave a receipt that said they would refund our money and we are still waiting to see if we will get the refund.
We bought the express tickets which didn't really help at the bottom but saved us about 1-2 hours waiting at the top.
The whole experience was similar to Disney land but not in a good way. Everything you do required you to wait in line. Upon reaching the half way point you are required to exit the gondola and stand in line again. If you have regular tickets this could mean about 30 minutes of wait time. We had express so we only waited 2 minutes.
Upon reaching the top we learned that we had to purchase tickets if we wanted to see the sky bridge. To purchase tickets we had to wait for 30 minutes. My mom, who is 70+ years old, chose to take the sky rail. She had to wait 45-60 minutes to board it. We walked and were able to visit the bridge for 10-15 minutes and walk back before she was even on the descent. Upon reaching the bottom near the sky bridge she had to wait another 15-30 minutes to come back up.
When we were ready to leave the line to get on the gondola was super long and would have taken another 30-45 minutes but thankfully we had our express pass and boarded right away.
In summary, it's a beautiful view on the top but nothing to do on the top. The whole experience would improve immensely if they added some hiking element that would help spread people out. A trail from the mid-way point to the top would be amazing. Maybe add some cliff walks and even a trail from the bottom. I'd much rather hike than wait in all those lines and I'd probably arrive before those taking the gondola too.
Thank you again to Anis whose customer service was as spectacular as the...
Read moreThis is the steepest Cable Car I've ridden and I've ridden it twice. The first time it was so windy that the cable car rocked side to side noticeably. If you have a fear of heights, be warned, this will make you queasy especially at the steep part before arriving at the Middle Station.
The ticketing counter could use a lot more work as it was not clear at a glance what the different packages meant. To make matters worse, everything in this area starts with the word "sky" - SkyCab, SkyBridge, SkyWalk, etc.
Here is a glossary to dispel the confusion:
SkyCab: refers to the cable car that takes you up. You can buy tickets for a private car or you will be put up with other tourists, 6 to a cab. You can even buy tickets for a glass bottomed car.
Middle Station + Eagle's Nest SkyWalk: You can get down at the Middle Station (first stop after you get on) to enjoy the views to the SouthEast and also for the SkyWalk. The SkyWalk is a glass bottomed walkway that extends over the lip of the sheer cliff. It gets its name from the giant metal Eagle head overlooking the walking area.
Top Station + SkyBridge: You can get back in the cable car to go to the top station for more views to the NorthWest. To get to the SkyBridge (which is a very uniquely constructed pedestrian bridge that spans two mountain peaks), you have to buy tickets for the NatureWalk or the NatureWalk+SkyGlide. I told you this would be confusing! If you buy just the tickets to NatureWalk, you have to hike down a path in the forest to arrive at the SkyBridge. If you bought tickets for the NatureWalk+SkyGlide, you can avail the Funicular which is just a glorified elevator and avoid the legwork. Note that the Nature Walk can be tough for those who are unfit.
You can always buy only tickets for just the cable car, and then, once you've decided, you can buy tickets for the SkyWalk, NatureWalk (for SkyBridge), & SkyGlide at the top stations. However, buying a package at the start will be cheaper compared to buying tickets separately.
On my second visit in August 2025, we were told that the SkyBridge and SkyWalk were closed due to bad weather and that only the cable car ride was available. This meant no packages could be bought. Per person (foreigner), it was RM85 for the cable car ride. But after we had gone up, the weather had cleared, and the other...
