Submarine Muesum Melaka We were there on a Friday (12 Sept 20) at 5pm but were told by the staff that it had closed, only weekend will close at 7pm. Note the operating hours and ticket prices in one of the photo.
We went back again the next afternoon... As you past the ticket counter, there are staff touting for you to photo take at their booth.
The ticket is only for entering the premises to see the submarine and the 2 fighter planes exhibit, there are other fees involved if your kids want to ride on the pony carriage and photo taken at the photoshoot corner.
There's a small exhibition corner below the submarine. However, the prints are not clear and deteriorated over time under the sun. It is a paid to enter museum, one would expect the artefact and info are well maintained.
The steep steps that leading into and out of the submarine, poses danger at that height, especially the size of the opening in the railings is way too big, a child if unattended could fall out.
The submarine internal one way passage is very narrow, if one wants to read the exhibits without blocking the queue behind, it is quite impossible as the crowd just wanna walk through the ship quickly.
Only the passageway is opened for visitors, all the rooms are cordoned off, you can only stretch your head or use selfie stick to 'views the interior of each space.
Overall, it is quite an experience for anyone who has not served in the army nor seen a submarine before. The feeling of living and working in a contained environment is really suffocating, we were glad to be finally out in the fresh...
Read moreNot sure why I came all the way here. The museum itself is very isolated and you’ll want to have transportation because walking from anywhere is 20mins+ and it’s very hot during the day.
Definitely not for tourist, which cost 20rm for foreigners and 10rm for locals, which is also not worth it. Very overpriced and overrated. The whole museum comprised of two jets and one submarine that takes 5-10mins to tour inside with no guide. There is no historical or educational info inside. Browse through my photos and you’ll see everything. Save yourself a trip. Barely has any air conditioning so it’s quite hot inside. There is a bathroom and a parking lot.
This is the worse museum I’ve been to in Malaysia if not all of Asia. Museums in Melacca are split apart into many different small museums that charges around 20rm separately with little to no contents and is a money making scam to tourists. Best museum in Melacca is probably the Cheng Ho Museum downtown that cost 15rm with lots of...
Read moreHere's a fun fact about the Submarine Museum (Muzium Kapal Selam) in Klebang, Melaka, Malaysia:
The submarine on display is a real decommissioned French Navy submarine, the FS Ouessant (S623), an Agosta-70 class submarine. It’s not a replica!
It’s the only submarine museum in Malaysia, and one of only two in Southeast Asia (the other is in Surabaya, Indonesia).
The Malaysian Navy used this very submarine in France for training from 2005 to 2009 before it was retired and brought to Malaysia to become a museum in 2011.
Inside, the corridors are so narrow that only one person can pass at a time — giving you a real sense of how cramped life inside a submarine can be.
You can explore the torpedo bay, control room, engine area, sleeping quarters, and mess hall, all preserved to reflect actual use.
It’s an immersive, educational experience and a unique chance to step inside a real submarine —...
