I recently visited the Port Dickson Ornamental Fish Centre, also known as Pusat Ikan Hiasan, and it was a delightful experience. Located in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, this center offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of marine life.

Pros:

Free Entry: One of the best aspects is that entry is free, making it an affordable outing for families and individuals alike

Variety of Marine Life: The center houses a variety of marine creatures, including coral, baby turtles, seahorses, and even a guitar shark. The aquariums are well-maintained, allowing visitors to observe the sea life up close.

Clean and Well-Maintained: The facility is clean and well-kept, with newly refurbished toilets and air-conditioned interiors

Educational Value: It’s a great place to learn about marine conservation efforts in Malaysia. The center also features coral cultivation and fish breeding labs

Paid Parking: There is a paid parking area available for RM 4, which is convenient for visitors driving to the center.

Cons:

Limited Staff: There is usually only one person at the registration counter, which can be inconvenient if you have questions about the exhibits

Small Turtle Tanks: The tanks for the turtles are quite small, which might be stressful for the larger turtles

Accessibility Issues: The entrance is about 100 meters from the parking area, which can be inconvenient during rainy days

Language Barrier: Some exhibits are only labeled in Malay, which might be a challenge for non-Malay speaking visitors

Overall, the Port Dickson Ornamental Fish Centre is a wonderful place to visit, especially for those interested in marine life and conservation. Despite a few minor drawbacks, it offers a unique and educational experience that is well...

Fun and Educational Spot for Families This was my first visit here, and overall, it turned out to be a really enjoyable experience. The best part is that entrance is completely free—you only need to pay RM4 for parking. Do note that the free parking spaces are very limited, so if you come during peak hours or weekends, be prepared to use the paid parking area. Registration is quick and simple; you just need to write down your name before going in.

Inside, you’ll find a nice variety of marine life. There are plenty of fishes to see, and the turtles were definitely a highlight for both kids and adults. Compared to my previous visit, I noticed that the displays have improved—there are now more fish and coral exhibits, which shows that the place is constantly upgrading and getting better with time. I heard that coral slots will be added soon, which will make the experience even more exciting and educational.

One of the fun extras here is the chance to take a group photo with your family and friends. The staff will help you capture the moment, and if you’d like, you can purchase the photo later from the counter for around RM25–RM30. It’s a nice souvenir to remember your visit.

This spot is especially great for families with kids. Children will love seeing the fish and turtles up close, and parents will appreciate that it’s both affordable and educational. It’s also a relaxing stop if you’re looking for a short outing with friends or relatives. Overall, I highly recommend paying a visit—you’ll get to enjoy marine life, take memorable photos, and spend quality time without...

At first glance, it looked like a former government building like a school. It is free to enter but need to register name. Parking is ample at the open front area with a charge of 4 bucks. When you enter, someone will ask whether you wanna a photo shoot but you can politely say no. The main reception area has a number of aquariums, some are open top so don’t knock the glass to scare the fishes. There are a number of bamboo sharks as well as a lot of eels in the aquariums. Many other ornamental fishes 🐟 🐠 šŸŽ£ 🐔🦈🐢are there too but most are in aquarium tanks, don’t expect to see like an underground tunnel with fishes swimming above and around you like most sea worlds. It’s more for educational purposes than really a tourist attraction. šŸ‘šŸ» should teach the next generation on taking care of the marine world as they are so beautiful. A duration of about 1 hour would suffice here. Getting here is easy as there are signs to direct you. The entrance is on the right if you are coming from PD town, just make sure you don’t miss the turning. There is potential to turn this into something more but a lot of exhibits and activities needed. Right now it’s a bit lacking but hope this wont stop...
