Before we came here there, few bad reviews about this place, for one it did not put us off and wanted to judge it for ourselves and we are glad we did. I myself especially understand some people put bad reviews on horse riding places for the stupidest things or their lack of knowledge on horses and the lack of understanding that the place is also a business. I just wish people would be respectful for their business, don't book things then not show up and don't cancel last minute it's wasting their time and spaces that other people could have be, respectful.
Mario and his staff were very professional, well organised, and very welcoming. Made sure we got there okay and directed us when we were a bit lost trying to find it. they offered us all water on a hot day, which was very kind. The horse's are very well looked after, healthy and very well trained, very sensible, sane and safe. Stables are very clean and spotless. Mario was very informative on the surroundings on the hack and made sure my non-riding family and everyone was safe on the ride. People where given horses that where suitable to their weight, size and knowledge as well.
Would highly recommend this little horse riding place and is a must do if you are in Malta. The family enjoyed their ride and I very much enjoyed my ride on Whiskey who is a very handsome, sweet horse, with a beautiful perfect pace to him very obedient and forward going, thank you for trusting him with me.
Thank you, Mario, and the rest of the staff for a beautiful ride out through some lovely scenery and a lovely end to our...
Read moreFirstly, the website of the Golden Bay Horse Riding is terrible - there is no information about what a ride includes, nor what to wear if you've never been on a horse in your entire life (such as myself), and booking is quite difficult as the booking option doesn't work, so, in the end, you have to go to their Facebook page and make a request there. But after that, you will be redirected to the owner Mario, who will communicate with you through WhatsApp after all. Also, payment is done only with cash.
Secondly, the owner and his crew are nice, but we didn't get any instructions on what to do and what will happen. We only got asked whether it's our first time. We received help when mounting the horses, as well as towels for those who were wearing bermudas. Our group was approximately 10 people.
What I disliked the most, however, was the fact that the 3 beginners had their horses attached to that of the leader of the horse trekking group, so that made it very inconvenient for the horses when walking. My horse kept bumping into the horse on its right-hand side, and my leg (I had shorts on) ended up rubbing against the horse's skin and that was quite painful. If that hadn't happened, I would have enjoyed the ride much more for sure.
Overall, a good experience, but come prepared by wearing long pants and sports shoes (despite the warmth!). Prices are reasonable for a one-hour ride (20€ per person) and you can choose whether you want a morning or...
Read moreWe came as a group and did not feel safe on the horses. We are beginners and have never ridden a horse before, we received absolutely no instructions they just placed us on the horses and left us there. My horse,Baby, was biting and jumping with another horse whilst waiting for the instructors to start the riding tour. I felt unsafe as I didn’t know how to control the horse and when I asked for help they ignored me. When I realised that we were getting no instructions and help I wanted to get off, I called for assistance and to come of the horse and one of the guys said ‘no don’t, just wait 5 mins’, ‘you will see how nice it is’ also proceeding to say ‘you will lose all your money’ - this didn’t make any sense to me as I wanted to get off not be told to stay and see how it is. I didn’t feel comfortable at all. Furthermore one of the members in my group was left with a bruise as the instructor grabbed him harshly on the arm when getting him off, I understand they have to help you when getting you off the horse but this much pressure on the arm was not needed. To add there were no health and safety sheets or forms to see if each rider was suitable for the...
