A Truly Relaxing and Memorable Experience with Blue Safariâs Southern Catamaran Cruise
Blue Safariâs Southern Catamaran Cruise was the perfect blend of leisure, scenic beauty, and top-notch hospitality. From start to finish, everything was exceptionally well-organized. The online booking process was smooth and hassle-free, and the booking team patiently answered all my queries over WhatsAppâsomething I truly appreciated.
On the day of the cruise, we were warmly welcomed by the Blue Safari team at Pointe des Régates in Mahébourg. A quick speedboat transfer brought us to the beautiful catamaran, where our journey began at 9:30 AM. We were greeted with a cheerful welcome and a helpful tour briefing by our lovely host, Rose. The cruise was led by Captain Jack and his wonderful four-member crew, who ensured we were comfortable and well taken care of throughout.
We were a small, friendly groupâtwo families and a few couplesâwhich made the experience feel even more personal. Our first stop was a snorkelling session, and I was thrilled to see my daughter try it for the first time. The crew was incredibly encouraging and made the moment extra special.
As we sailed through the stunning blue-green waters, drinks flowed freely, and we found ourselves completely immersed in the tranquillity of the sea. Rose shared interesting facts about the nearby lighthouse and surroundings, adding a thoughtful touch to the journey.
Next, we hopped on a speedboat to visit the breathtaking GRSE waterfallâa highlight of the trip. Back on the catamaran, we were treated to a delicious barbecue lunch. Relaxing on the deck with the sea breeze and panoramic views was simply mesmerising.
By 2 PM, we reached the picturesque Ăle aux Cerfs, where we enjoyed a refreshing swim in the shallow turquoise waters. The island was well-equipped with facilities like showers, changing rooms, beach chairs, and cozy shack restaurants.
After an hour of island time, we returned to the catamaran for a delightful tea and coffee session accompanied by freshly baked cake and soft background music. As rain clouds began to roll in, the team ensured we got back to the starting point safely by 4 PM.
Every aspect of the cruise was thoughtfully planned and executed. A special thanks to Rose, whose warmth and hospitality made us feel completely at home. This was truly an experience of a lifetimeâspending quality time with family, disconnected from the digital world, surrounded by serene waters and breathtaking views.
Highly recommend this day cruise if youâre visiting Mauritius! Be sure to check their website for more cruise options based on your locationâthereâs something...
Read moreBlue Safari offers both SubScooter drive and Submarine ride. If you opt for both the above said activities, in the package they offer Lunch as complimentary, in a local restaurant âLe Grand Blue Hotelâ just opposite to their establishment. Standard Mauritius Thali and few rotis are offered. quantity and quality of the food is Ok. For Sub scooter: You are well briefed of the procedures on the deck, the safety signs to be used, you are always assisted and guided under the vigilant eye đ of a Scuba đ€ż expert. Depending on the person, be prepared for the pain in ears đ when submerged in water. Duration of the actual activity lasts for 20 min. In our package we opted for both Under water photos and video - but due to a technical glitch the Photos were damaged and only half a min Video was salvaged. We were disappointed as we could not get any photos and memories to cherish.
For Submarine: You would not experience any pain in the ears đ as you are under controlled pressure/ environment. Duration of the Submarine activity lasts 40 min.
The staff at Blue Safari are cordial, giving an update of what is planned to come, prompt on time to initiate the activities. Uniqueness was the hand over of certificates post completion of each of the activities with Blue Safari logo. End to End, both the activities require 2 hours each and 1 hour for lunch (if you have opted for the package) So, a day should be planned for these activities.
Is Under sea walk better than Sub scooter drive - Yes. According to me, in the sub scooter drive you do not feel you are moving. Personally, đ to Under sea walk.
Is it worth traveling to North to explicitly Board the Submarine and view - No. You might even get disconnected from the activity. Total cost of the...
Read moreShort version: If you think this is the only opportunity you will get to get inside a submarine and see some underwater life, go for it. But If you have done similar adventure in the past, or certainly would get a chance in the future, then I would say save your money for something else.
Long version: Below average customer service - We were initially booked in for a 11:30am submarine ride. But at about 11:45am we were told that there was a technical problem with 1 of the 2 submarines that they have, and our dive had to be rescheduled to 3pm. We has been there since 10:30am, and there were couple of other groups who came after us, yet they managed to get a ride in the working submarine, whereas we were asked to come back for a ride later in the day! If they knew that they were hitting a snag, they could have easily given us an idea, and saved us some time. We could have done some other local stuff in the same time.
What are your expectations - If a ride in a submarine is what you wish to achieve from this, then it will meet your expectations. But if seeing a lot of beautiful fish, corals and other underwater life is what you are expecting then you will be left longing for more. There are very few fish, and not the best of the corals even at a depth of 30m. I have seen many more fish and much better corals in 2m of depth elsewhere.
Good sea/submarine crew - The staff working on the boat where the submarine is anchored, and the submarine captain himself are smart and knowledgeable people. I suppose the only enjoyment/fun/information came thru the talk that these guys gave.
On the whole, I dont think its really worth the price you pay...
