We have just returned from an amazing week at this hotel with our three children age 6, 10 and 12 staying in the two bedroom suite 335 from the 25th May to the 1st June. We booked with Sun, Sea and Gluten free.||Initial impressions were very good. We arrived early morning and immediately were given a welcome drink, access to all the facilities and a room to change and freshen up in. This gave us the opportunity to have breakfast, a swim and familiarise ourselves with the resort. |We have a variety of dietary needs so we were introduced to the head chef Rishiraj who reassured us that they would be able to cater well for us all. My daughter has coeliac disease (no gluten) but also can’t tolerate dairy. We have avoided all inclusive hotels since she was diagnosed nearly 10 years ago, feeling that it would be too complicated and too likely that she would end up unwell but the reviews here were good so we decided to give it a go. It can be hard to put your trust into someone else to prepare food with the risk associated. Anyway we needn’t have worried as they did a great job. |Our son can’t have dairy or soya either but this is an intolerance so not such a worry as with my daughter as he wouldn’t be unwell for so long. I am vegan and my daughter is vegetarian. It can feel rather awkward discussing all of these but Rishi was brilliant, didn’t seem at all phased and said not to worry at all. At 4pm each day there is pancake time. I didn’t consider this would be suitable for my son and daughter to join in but they quickly became aware that they would like to eat pancakes for breakfast daily and for pancake time so they would get them ready and we would let them know when we arrived. So they were gluten free and made with almond milk to be suitable for them both. They did have other milk replacements on offer but as this so what we use at home it worked well. |We found it easier to not do the buffet restaurant (L’oasis) for main meals as there is a cross contamination risk for my daughter for people who might touch gluten food when using the serving spoons so we didn’t eat there much. On the kids menu there was pasta which they were happy to make gluten free. Other than that she just said what she fancied and they seemed happy to accommodate. They did her grilled chicken and rice or potatoes and grilled fish. I’m sure it could have been more adventurous but this was what she fancied. In Blue Ginger she asked for avocado, cucumber and salmon sushi and a gluten free pad Thai which she said was delicious. It was a bit harder in the Indian restaurant. We did eat at L’oasis a couple of times. We arrived as they opened to avoid the cross contamination risk but they were happy to make things freshly for her and bring them to the table. Chefs would take her around and talk about what was suitable but all were labelled with the main allergens. These are the same main allergens as in the uk though so didn’t include soya. They have the most amazing chocolate brownie that is gluten free, soya free and vegan so that was very much enjoyed. There aren’t vegan desserts out but I had two whilst there but you need to ask, they aren’t on the menu. I enjoyed all the amazing selection of fruit everyday and was rather full from the main courses. They always had some vegan options they could offer, not always on the menu but they can suggest or I would ask if could have a dish without a certain bit. All staff had a clear understanding of all the ingredients and what being coeliac or vegan meant. Nothing was ever any bother and they all really went above and beyond. |A few mentions - Vikesh in Il corralo restaurant who would make sure he got a dessert in if he knew we were coming, Ouma who would make sure the special pancakes were ordered for us for pancake time, Nitesh in Blue Ginger and Mahiya for helping create the perfect dishes for us all and Jugun in the Oasis for sorting the breakfast pancakes. The kindness from them made the holiday all the more special. |We came end of May. The weather was mixed - it’s winter there. We had some wind, a swell and some rain but on the whole these didn’t cause any issues. Temperature was up to about 27. It was a comfortable temperature for the children, no one was feeling unwell overheating etc. the pools were a little cool as was the sea but ok when you got swimming. There were two heated pools by the 500 rooms and the 200. We didn’t go to either of these. |The kids were impressed by the array of activities in the kids club. They did water skiing, aqua planing, swimming games, henna tattoos, Mario kart switch racing and a tennis lesson. My 6 year old really enjoyed going and stayed quite a bit on the last day. Generally our kids don’t go to many clubs without us so it was nice to see him asking to go and picking out the activities he wanted to go to. The set up was great in there, a little paddling pool, craft tables, tv, baby room, little play park, sand etc. the staff were absolutely lovely and my son who doesn’t really build up much relationship with adults at school really liked them. |We stayed in room 335 which was a two bed apartment. It was really spacious with two bathrooms including 2 showers, one bath and an outside shower too. It worked very well. We had a well stocked mini bar which was continuously refilled as and when they noticed we used anything. |We planned a few long days out going on boat trips and to visit some main sights around Mauritius. I was concerned we may not be able to easily get allergy food for the children so we asked them to make a picnic up for us. They did a brilliant job, packed it all with ice packs, lots of juices, fruit, salads and bread. It was really good of them to do such a good job with it. |The activities at the watersports centre were great- paddle boarding, sailing, glass bottom boat, pedalo’s etc. due to the wind it did impact on how many we could do as they were limited to safety on windy days. ||We played tennis, table tennis and my husband played golf too. ||The spa was lovely, very friendly staff. They did massages for my 12 year old with me. They seemed to have a few options for children to do with parents too which was nice. ||Facilities overall are lovely there. It doesn’t feel too busy, never issues getting tables to sit at or sun loungers. Extremely good service and we appreciate what a good holiday...
Read moreThe Residences is a clean place where my husband and I stayed for two weeks in January. It's a solidly built apartment building that sits opposite Trou aux Biches beach. Location wise, its a very easy, 10 min. walk to the corner where the Police station is if you look on the map, just to get your bearings. I really enjoyed staying in this area.||||We stayed in a studio apartment on the ground floor it was nice. Value for money for what we paid $90 AU approx per night. Small kitchenette, enough for two, clean comfy bed, ensuite shower, clean cane furniture and flat screen tv. Also a ceiling fan and a verandah opening out onto a grass area, if you like to eat outside, its ideal. There were white tiles on the floor. It was neat and tidy. The place really is nice. Much more than budget style I would say. Oh and free wifi, but a little slow.||||We cooked our own eggs for breakfast, made toast and cereal and it was fab. We could get up whatever time we wanted. Then we would walk over the road to the beach. If you walk across the road and go left you'll see a lane in between houses ts much quicker on this lane, about 3 mins. If you walk outside and go to the right its a little longer, also via a sandy lane between houses.||||For lunch we bought fresh french type bread and fantastic brie, crackers and wine, olives, etc. all from Popo supermarket, located two doors up from the apartment. For dinner we could walk outside and there were at least a half dozen nice restaurants in the area. We especially liked Souvenir restaurant on the corner opposite the Police station. There is also a tour shop there. We did a tour on a catamaran on the East coast to Isle de Cerf. Wonderful island, lovely clear water, but pity about the weather. January a bit rainy and cloudy, but we still got a tan! Unbelievable as the sun is that strong.||||Beach at Trou aux Biches is lovely, white sand, very clear calm water (Jan.), some coral near where the shore meets the water and some also in the water. If you walk along the beach in a northerly direction there is less coral and rocks in the water and along the shoreline. I loved this beach and when I go back to Mauritius I would stay in this area and go to this beach.||||The manager is very friendly and helpful and is there every day except Sunday. He explained how we could go to Port Louis by bus and to the Bagatelle Shopping centre. Also it was not difficult and we liked the bus ride. Almost every day we also got the bus into Grand Bay, we loved doing that, easy 10 min or so ride and very cheap a little more than $1 AU per person into Grand Bay. Quiet town, some restaurants around. There is one area in Grand Bay where they have a nice cafe/restaurant where you can sit right by the water and enjoy the view. We sat there quite a few afternoons with cocktails and snacks just admiring the view and the boats. The shops located near the restaurant that overlooks the water in this area are also nice/trendy shops. There is also a supermarket that you can walk to, it is massive. There is also a fantastic ice cream/gelato and coffee place outside the supermarket. ||||Anyway, we loved Mauritius and would definitely go back, we would also choose an apartment over a resort. You can buy what you want from the supermarket for breakfast and lunch and go out for a nice dinner at night. Very easy to get around on your own. Buses are easy to navigate. People are friendly and helpful. In Trou aux biches and in Grand Bay and even in Port Louis. You don't need the resorts to book tours, in Grand Bay they have heaps of tour shops and they pick you up from wherever you are staying. We also went to the zoo, the Gardens and Cap Malhereux etc.. Organised that with a driver who we got from the local tour shop in Trou aux Biches. The guy there is really nice and polite and helpful. We also hired a bike and drove around, we went to Pereybere and back and looked around Trou aux biches and beyond. Loved Trou aux biches area the best.||||Anyway, if you come to Mauritius and are looking for a clean apartment that is extremely well located and everything you need for a self catering holiday then this is a really good place to stay. I'm sure we'll be back, but not in...

Dear future guests,
If you're seeking a paradise on Earth, look no further than the enchanting Trou Aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa. My family and I recently had the pleasure of experiencing this slice of heaven, and the memories we made will be cherished forever.
From the moment we arrived, the warm and elegant welcome by the Guest Relations and Front Office team set the tone for our exceptional stay. Their concise yet polite approach was the perfect introduction to the unparalleled hospitality that awaited us.
One standout feature that truly made our trip seamless was the outstanding room service. We ordered all our meal plans for our 15-month-old baby through room service, and their impeccable service was beyond praise. Always punctual and attentive to our requests, they made dining for a toddler a breeze. The extensive in-room dining menu, catering to both kids and adults, ensured that every meal was a delight.
Our visit coincided with my birthday, and the entire hotel staff went above and beyond to make it a day to remember. From the dedicated Hotel Manager to the skilled Executive Chef, every member of the exceptional staff, from housekeeping to the front desk, was aware of the special occasion and showered us with heartfelt wishes. The specially curated meal plans for the day, featuring a variety of superb dishes, and the beautiful birthday cake were delightful surprises that added an extra layer of joy to our celebration.
With six remarkable restaurants on-site, each offering a unique culinary experience, choosing where to dine became a delightful challenge. The truffle risotto at Il Corallo was a symphony of flavors, while the perfectly spiced lobsters from the Blue Ginger left our taste buds dancing. At La Plage Restaurant, the white fish crudo and tarama were exceptional, showcasing the culinary prowess of the chefs. A special note of appreciation for the flexibility of the dining staff who accommodated our late arrivals(due to the baby) with grace, making us feel valued and welcomed.
The hospitality of the entire staff throughout the resort is truly out of this world. Their genuine warmth and attention to detail made us feel like royalty, creating an atmosphere of unparalleled comfort and relaxation.
For families with young ones, the kids' club at Trou Aux Biches is a haven of fun and excitement. The variety of activities and thoughtful programming kept our 15-month-old son entertained, allowing us to enjoy some well-deserved relaxation.
The beach at the far right-hand side of the hotel is a breathtaking escape. The wide, silky white sand, numerous lounge chairs, and a beach bar with attentive "Beach Boys" serving refreshing drinks created a serene atmosphere. The mesmerizing blues and turquoise of the sea, coupled with vibrant sunsets, painted a picture of sheer paradise.
Despite our preference not to consume alcohol, the attentive bartenders at Trou Aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa were incredibly receptive. They crafted exceptional non-alcoholic creations that not only enhanced our experience of the breathtaking views but also made us feel truly valued and catered to. Their creativity and dedication added an extra layer of enjoyment to our stay.
The expansive main swimming pool, as well as the six other tranquil pools scattered throughout the lush gardens, provided ample opportunities for relaxation. Surrounded by palm trees and bushes, these pools offered a peaceful retreat, allowing us to unwind and soak in the beauty of our surroundings.
Speaking of the gardens, the sheer size and variety of the hotel's landscape are awe-inspiring. It felt as if the entire resort was a magnificent garden, with rooms seamlessly integrated into the lush greenery, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and serenity.
In conclusion, our stay was nothing short of magical. Every detail shared if fully deserved. We hope our experience encourages you to embark on your own journey to...
