Six months before our planned visit on April 3rd, my wife, who is particularly thorough when it comes to organizing our trips, reserved a daybed at this sought-after resort. True to her type A personality, she didn't just stop there; she diligently checked the booking status every three weeks, ensuring that we were well ahead of the curve when it came to securing our spot, especially since the resort's popularity seemed to be increasing. The day before our arrival, she confirmed that the resort had reached full capacity—the daybeds were completely booked, as were all the accommodations.
Expecting a smooth experience upon our early arrival, we were instead greeted with a jarring mix-up. While one check-in staff member found and recognized our reservation, displaying a card with my wife’s name linked to the daybed she had reserved, another staff member—who had apparently oversold the reservations—responded with a careless shrug that struck us as both sad and disappointing. This lack of concern seemed unfitting for a family who had worked hard to earn a well-deserved vacation.
After being escorted to our daybed, the reality of the situation became painfully obvious: our daybed had been double-booked. In an attempt to rectify the situation, the manager on site, while respecting our six-month advance reservation, offered us a choice to relinquish our daybed in favor of complimentary water activities and other compensations. This was clearly an effort to appease not just us but also the other guests who had been caught up in the overbooking debacle.
While the offer was a gesture of goodwill, it was far from a satisfactory resolution for my wife. Having endured numerous bouts of skin cancer, she places a great deal of importance on having a reserved daybed for health reasons—it’s a necessity for her to have a guaranteed shaded area to rest and recover. The resort's solution, although presumably well-intentioned, only compounded our frustration. Moreover, the awkward glances from other overbooked guests, who seemed to direct their dissatisfaction towards us, added to an already uncomfortable atmosphere. This, of course, was through no fault of our own, given our proactive booking approach.
The tension of the situation prompted us to cut our visit short, as the environment no longer felt welcoming. Nevertheless, amidst the disarray, the silver lining was the staff's remarkable service. The waiters, in particular, were attentive and diligent, and they truly deserve recognition and generous gratuities for their efforts, especially considering that not all guests treated them with the respect they deserved.
In terms of amenities, it's worth noting that the daybeds themselves were a highlight—comfortable and well-priced, offering a slice of the luxury one would expect from such a resort. Yet, this positive aspect is overshadowed by the overall experience. Our takeaway is a sobering reminder: securing a reservation well in advance, even six months prior, does not guarantee you will receive what you've booked. It's a case of 'buyer beware,' where the reliability of a reservation is called into question.
While we can understand that misunderstandings and overbookings can occur, the front office staff's lack of concern was particularly disconcerting. The experience has left us hesitant about returning, not solely because of the reservation issue but more so due to the handling of the situation by the front desk and the discomfort caused by the other guests' scrutiny. In the future, we will be looking for a resort that not only offers comfort and excellent service but also ensures the reliability of their booking system and demonstrates genuine care for their guests' experiences. Final thoughts if you do decide to get a day bed , please get there when they open….. I can’t help to think what would have happened if we arrived at 930,and not when we arrived which was...
Read moreWe prebooked a reservation to the Paradise Beach Club directly on their web site. We came here during our cruise ship stop in Cozumel. The 15-minute taxi ride from the port will cost you $18 each way for 1-4 people. You need to pay for the taxi in cash. We purchased the all inclusive package for $136 for two that provided unlimited food and drinks, access to both the beach and pool, lounge chairs and umbrellas, restrooms, fresh water showers and changing rooms and free high-speed wifi. Although it is very safe to leave your items at your lounge chair, they offer lockers for rent for $4 and a $20 deposit. The facility grounds are well maintained and the staff are very friendly. Although there were 3 cruise ships in port it was not crowded and there were many empty lounge chairs. You can pay for everything with a credit card however I recommend you bring cash for tips. When you arrive you check in at the front counter, pay for what you want and then are given a wristband that indicates what plan you have paid for. You are then given a brief tour of the facility and asked if you want to sit at the pool or beach. You are taken to your lounge chairs (that you can choose) and introduced to your waiters for the day. They immediately asked if we wanted any food or drink. There is a large pool with lounge chairs all around and several cabanas that you can rent for an additional price. Some of the lounges are in a shaded area by the pool bar. There is a large sandy beach with a large number of lounge chairs, many of which are under palm trees providing shade. The are small tables by the chairs and tables and chairs for eating in several areas by the lounge chairs. Food and beverages are brought to you in your lounge chair by wait staff assigned to you or you can eat in one of the two restaurants. The menu offers a lot of variety. The blackened fish tacos were excellent and the beef tacos were above average. The beef fajitas were served in a hot skillet and were excellent. The drink menu offers a good variety of both alcohol and non-alcohol drinks, although the alcohol drinks contained minimal alcohol. The peach and mango smoothies were excellent. Our waiters Ramos and Martin checked on us regularly to make sure we had plenty of food and drink. The cost for the all inclusive package is worth it if you stay for 5-6 hours and partake in the food and drink. There is a large sand beach and mostly sand in the water intermixed with small rocks. There is an inflatable water park that you can pay extra to use. For an additional fee they also offer waverunners, parasailing, banana boat rides, henna tattoos and hair braiding. They offered three types of massage for various lengths of time from 30 minutes to an hour. We had a 45 minute deep tissue massage that cost $50. They did an excellent job! Although there is a small snorkeling area next to their small pier there is really nothing to see and it is not worth renting the snorkel gear. If you are looking to spend a fun day at the beach or just relax I highly recommend this place. Note: Previous online reviews talk about the waiters being aggressive regarding tips at the end of the day. Some reviews stated they received itemized bills showing the cost of all the items they had and waiters expected tips based on this amount, and not the all inclusive price. We did not experience any of this. When we packed up to leave our waiters came and thanked us for coming and thanked us for the 20% tip I gave them based on our all...
Read moreI went to Paradise Beach about 2 weeks ago. I have been here a few times previously over the years. We were on a cruise and were trying to decide which beach to go to this time. It was between Chulas and Paradise. We chose Paradise even though the price was a little higher, I at least knew what I was getting. We checked in after the cab ride, easy fast and smooth. We were taken to our beach chairs, and immediately greeted by our waiters. We had our first drinks and food order within 10 minutes. All was great, then I realized I didn’t have my phone!! I rush back to the front to see if it was turned in, it was not…at this point they direct me to someone else. The front desk lady is calmly asking me questions about what was the cab number ( I didn’t pay attention), how did the driver look( I did pay attention to this thankfully it was a woman), what time did we get there( I had the receipt from check in time stamped). By this time a gentleman in plain clothes walks up and starts asking if anyone has called the cab company, etc. They keep impeccable records of every cab/ driver that drops off how many people were dropped off, etc. we were able to narrow down the cab driver. By this time I have found out the the plain clothes gentleman is the OWNER of Paradise Beach. He introduces me to the manager Miguel and tells me that he is going to take care of everything and they are going to call the cab lady. He says go enjoy some drinks, try to relax. Miguel takes us back to our beach chairs so he knows exactly where to find us when updated. Now of course I can not relax because my phone is attached to my “wallet” you know one of those that holds your ID, all my credit, insurance, debit cards, etc. I know dumb!! I am sitting there for about 30 minutes when I look up and see Peter the owner and Miguel the manager walking down the beach to me with my phone in hand!!! I rush to profusely thank them both. Beyond customer service!! This beach club is beautiful! The toys are so fun, the snorkeling I could do for hours here. Under the pier I saw 3 rays, and conch shell, 4 star fish and I am talking huge ones, not to mention the tons of schools of fish. I really can not say enough great things about Paradise Beach. We have been to several other beach clubs, Playa Uvas, Chankanaab, Playa Mia, Carlos and Charlie’s, and a few resort for the days. I can guarantee that had my experience happened at any of those other places, I do not think I would have had the same outcome! Thank you Peter and the whole Paradise Beach crew for such a great day, and your amazing hospitality! Can’t wait to come...
