Oceana — Restaurant in Quintana Roo

Tuesday 2-13-2024, 1845 Saday, the hostess at Oceana restaurant (inside Secrets Aura Hyatt resort), would not allow my husband & I to dine unless he changed into closed toe shoes, & we obliged. We waited for a golf cart to our resort and returned in 35 minutes (due to the wait)… when we returned, there was a long line to enter Oceana- which is understandable. While in line, I noticed men (4) in front of us- wearing sandals. Makes sense since this is an outdoor/ beach restaurant. The problem was those guests were not told they needed to change shoes. She only said this to my husband plus another Latin couple (who also recently returned from changing).

Hyatt discrimination was VERY obvious and SPECIFIC. In fact, while dining - we noticed MANY other male patrons wearing open toe sandals.

There were 2 tables each of 8-10 people & half were wearing sandals. Appears like a refusal to provide services to my husband and me as well as the other couple since the shoe rules were not enforced with patrons in line in front of us nor those already dining in the restaurant.

Finally, Hyatt & Saday, please realize that all of the patrons are from your resorts. This is shocking &...

Secrets is a very nice place and well maintained. The Oceana wait staff was rude during lunch. In view of guest by their wait station near the bar, they were saying negative comments about me as well as other guests when asked to get an order off the other menu that was prepared out of the same kitchen.
